A Trump supporter was reportedly stabbed outside President Donald Trump’s Ohio rally Wednesday night, with footage showing a knife still lodged in the victim’s back. Police moved into the area and detained one person as the president addressed supporters inside. The incident happened in Chillicothe on October 28th, six days before the midterm elections. Accounts of the encounter described officers responding to the wounded attendee outside the campaign event.
Trump was speaking at the Shoemaker Center on Ohio University’s Chillicothe campus, where Republican candidates joined him during the final stretch of campaigning. Senator Jon Husted and gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy also spoke at the rally. Ohio’s Senate contest pits Husted against Democrat Sherrod Brown, while Ramaswamy faces Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton.
The footage circulating after the incident showed the immediate aftermath, including the victim with a knife protruding from the left side of the lower back. Officers could be seen moving around the scene as another person was detained nearby. The president was onstage when the incident occurred outside, and he continued his remarks during the response.
The Scioto Valley Guardian reported that police detained one individual, citing witnesses and video from the scene. The Secret Service led security for the rally, supported by local and regional law enforcement. As of the outlet’s initial report, the victim’s condition and the detained person’s identity remained unavailable, and authorities hadn’t established a public account of the motive.
Townhall reported that the injured man, wearing a white hat, alerted those nearby to the wound. “I got something in my back,” he said in the footage quoted by the outlet. He then asked, “Is there a knife in my back? I think he stabbed me.” The video circulated Thursday morning as accounts of the incident spread beyond the Ohio rally.
The Gateway Pundit reported that Derek Myers posted footage showing the victim and the police response. The recording captures the aftermath rather than the stabbing itself. Turning Point Action’s Tyler Bowyer shared the footage and blamed the incident on the political left. He also urged, “Pray for the person who was stabbed.”

Inside the venue, Trump spoke for more than 90 minutes, WHIO reported. His remarks covered affordability, crime, taxes, voter identification requirements and Second Amendment protections. He also devoted substantial attention to immigration, playing a video about his administration’s border policies and specifically referencing the Haitian population in Springfield.
The appearance was his third Ohio visit that month. Trump also defended a Ramaswamy campaign advertisement featuring Acton’s estranged mother, drawing a standing ovation from the crowd. Voters waiting outside before the event told the station that immigration was their primary concern this election season.
Security personnel also removed three people following disturbances inside the rally, according to WHIO. One man was escorted out after shouting about Trump’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Elsewhere in Ohio, Acton held a campaign rally in Cincinnati while Trump appeared in Chillicothe. Ohio’s early in-person voting period ends Sunday, November 1st, ahead of Election Day on November 3rd.
