Rumors have been swirling around Aaron Rodgers and his potential trade to the New York Jets all offseason. With Rodgers reportedly being unhappy with the current state of the Green Bay Packers front office and the New York Jets lacking an elite starting quarterback, the two are a near-perfect match.
Now, reports indicate that a deal is all but agreed upon by the Packers and Jets to send Rodgers to NYC. According to Connor Hughes of SNY, the only thing left to do for both organizations and their fan bases is to wait on Rodgers.
“Everything that needs to be done is essentially done in regards to a trade. Sides have worked out what needs to be worked out. So if Rodgers wants to be a Jet, he will be a Jet. Broken record, but … just waiting on him to decide”
From my understanding on #Jets & Aaron Rodgers: Everything that needs to be done is essentially done in regards to a trade. Sides have worked out what needs to be worked out.

Reporters have been speculating that a trade has been agreed upon since as early as last week when Rodgers was reported to have been in meetings with the Jets. Now, it would take some spectacular development to keep Rodgers in Green Bay. Rich Cimini reported on March 7 that a deal may have already been struck behind closed doors.
“This would mean the Jets have received permission to speak with Rodgers (otherwise, it would be tampering). Routinely, permission isn’t granted unless teams have agreed to trade compensation. So stay tuned.”

Many NFL analysts think that the Jets are one great quarterback away from making a deep run to the Super Bowl. Young quarterback Zach Wilson has failed to live up to the high expectations of the organization, and his time may be running out. Fox News wrote:
“The Jets went 7-10 last season, staying alive in the playoff race until Week 17. They do have one of the better rosters in all of football, especially in young offensive talent with Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall, who likely would have won the award had it not been for a torn ACL midseason.
“However, they arguably had the worst quarterback situation in all of football with Zach Wilson’s struggles.”
According to Heavy, a Rodgers decision is expected to arrive soon. With the clock ticking closer to the start of the 2023/24 season, both the Jets and Packers need to know the status of Rodgers and begin building their teams accordingly. Rodgers said:
“It’s always interesting meeting important figures in this sport. Stay tuned…I think it won’t be long. There’s a time limit for all of this.”
In the event that Rodgers moves away from the Packers, young quarterback Jordan Love may finally have an opportunity to play after being drafted in 2020. After a couple of seasons behind Rodgers, he will have an opportunity to show what he has learned from watching and practicing alongside one of the best players in the game. Packers fans and staff know that he has all of the requisite physical skills to be a successful quarterback, but his ability to read defenses and make the right decisions in the passing game will be under heavy scrutiny if he wins the starting job.
