Sean Hannity turned the jokes about his age difference with Ainsley Earhardt into a punchline of his own during an interview posted in March. Asked how the Fox News colleagues make their relationship work, Hannity recalled the teasing he says they hear from others. They announced their engagement in December 2024. As of August 2026, they remained engaged and hadn’t publicly shared wedding plans.
Katie Miller asked Hannity about the relationship on “The Katie Miller Pod”, where he appeared for a wide-ranging conversation. “Ainsley who? Why is she dating grandpa? Why is she hanging out with an aging lesbian? That was a joke, sweetheart,” he said, mimicking the kinds of comments he hears. At the time the story was published, Hannity was 64 and Earhardt was 49. He delivered the line as a joke, and the age-gap teasing became a headline from the interview.
The question gave Hannity a chance to speak about a personal subject he and Earhardt had largely kept private. Reports about their relationship surfaced in 2020, but the couple first publicly confirmed it when they announced their engagement in December 2024. Earhardt joined Fox News in 2007 and became a co-host of “Fox & Friends”, while Hannity hosts the network’s evening program. Their relationship had drawn public speculation for years before the engagement announcement.
Hannity proposed at a church over Christmas 2024, according to The Daily Beast’s report. The couple said they chose the church because of their shared faith, and Fox News said they had originally bonded over that connection. Their engagement announcement also included thanks to their families for their support. Faith has been a common thread in their public comments, including Earhardt’s on-air conversations about Christianity.
The two had been dating for years before they announced the engagement, according to the report. Hannity was based in Florida while Earhardt worked in New York; he reportedly visited her on weekends, and the two alternated visits. Their public appearances included attending the February 2026 wedding of White House deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino and Erin Elmore at Mar-a-Lago. The couple’s long-distance routine continued while they worked at the same network.

Earhardt had been married twice before her engagement to Hannity. Her first marriage was to college sweetheart Kevin McKinney; they married in 2005 and separated in 2009. In 2012, she married Will Proctor, a former Clemson quarterback, and they had a daughter, Hayden, in 2015. The couple announced their separation in 2018, and their divorce was finalized in 2019.
Hannity was previously married to Jill Rhodes. Their marriage began in 1993 and ended in 2020, although they had separated earlier; they have two children, Patrick and Merri, both in their twenties. Hannity and Earhardt told Fox News after their engagement that they continued to get along well with their former spouses. Their children were part of the family context around the engagement: Hannity has two, while Earhardt has one daughter.
The Katie Miller interview covered more than the couple’s age difference. The episode also included discussion of Hannity’s television and radio work, his views on the media, his friendship with President Donald Trump, and how he and Earhardt began dating. The official episode description places his discussion of their love story at about the 33-minute mark, followed by conversation about their blended family, their first date, and his proposal.
Trump publicly congratulated the couple after the engagement announcement in a Truth Social post. He wrote that they were officially engaged and called them a fine couple, describing the match as a “deal made in HEAVEN.” Hannity and Earhardt said in their joint statement that they were grateful to their families for the support they had received.
