The White House launched a brutal counterattack against The Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines after she took a swing of her own at President Donald Trump, referring to her as a “despicable nobody” with a “peanut-sized brain.” Ouch. The White House delivered a statement about Maines’ criticism of the president.
“Natalie Maines is a despicable nobody who clearly suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted her peanut-sized brain,” the White House went on to tell Fox News Digital. The complete verbal dismemberment of Maines and her assault against Trump came after the singer, who recently kicked off The Chicks’ anniversary tour for “Taking the Long Way Home” in Manhattan, breathed new life into the old dig she used to use against former President George W. Bush.
During a live performance, Maines said that she would “never” submit to the “shut up and sing” brigade. “We thought that was the worst it could get,” the singer said, referencing the flack she caught for the comments she made in 2003 about Bush. “Now I’d give George Bush a big, wet kiss,” she joked. “Because now we’re ashamed the president of the United States is from the United States.”
According to a report from Fox News, the comment was a direct callback to the statement she made in 2003 about Bush that got her dragged over the coals. “Just so you know, we do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas,” Maines had said at the time.
Folks on social media had mixed opinions about Maines doing yet another political rant during a live show. One user on Instagram said, “Kind of tired of this political rant… get on with your music which I love.” Another person wrote, “Spent $1500 for a ticket to see a concert with wonderful music. Did not want to hear politics.”
Others, however, praised Maines for being “brave and bold” on stage and saying basically the same things that every other liberal artist in every other medium of expression is saying. “It was the correct thing to say back then and is definitely the correct thing to say now. Bravo Chicks,” one user stated in a comment on Instagram.
Someone else said, “The Chicks are on the right track.” In May 2026, Maines caused controversy after she posted a rant ripping into President Trump filled to the brim with naughty words that accused him of destroying democracy in the United States. “Our democracy is disappearing right before our eyes,” she started off.

“This fugly slut is using your gas money to pay the insurrectionists. But don’t worry about it. I’m sure posting selfies will fix everything,” she continued. “My last post that called him a fugly slut got removed. We’ll see how long this one lasts. Repost and help the message live.” To showcase how much of a waste of time the administration thinks Maines really is, the response they gave to the most recent dig is the same they used against her in May.
