Trump Admin Goes Nuclear on Mamdani, Hochul for Shielding 16,000 Criminal Illegal Aliens from ICE

According to shocking new reports, the state of New York blew off a whopping 16,000 ICE orders issued by the Trump administration to detain suspected criminal illegal aliens that have either been accused or convicted in more than 50,000 criminal charges. Information released by the Department of Homeland Security stated that municipalities located across the Democrat-controlled state have refused to comply with detainment requests a stunning 16,070 times since President Donald Trump took office in 2025.

Officials in state and local police departments have refused to hand over criminal illegals who are suspected or convicted of crimes ranging from murder to kidnapping to sexual assault. “While sanctuary politicians continue to release dangerous criminals onto their streets, our brave law enforcement officers will continue to risk their lives to arrest these heinous criminals and make America safe again. Illegal aliens have no sanctuary in America,” DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin told the New York Post.

“We enforce these laws with no help from Mayor [Zohran] Mamdani and Governor [Kathy] Hochul. The Trump Administration is committed to protecting the American people in every city and every state, and we won’t let sanctuary politicians stand in our way,” Mullin continued. An ICE detainer is a request made to either state or local law enforcement agencies requesting they detain a suspected illegal alien for up to 48 hours so that feds have ample time to take them into custody.

According to a report from The New York Post, Albany allows local governments throughout the Empire State to make up their own policies, like transforming places like the Big Apple into dangerous, crime-ridden “sanctuary cities” that refuse to honor requests to detain criminal illegals. Hochul recently signed the “Local Cops, Local Crimes Act” into law, which places heavy restrictions on cooperation between local and state police agencies and federal immigration authorities.

The Trump administration has come out swinging against Hochul and her administration, referring to New York as a “sanctuary state” due to its numerous policies in place that restrict cooperation between feds and local law enforcement in the detention and deportation of illegal aliens. Disturbingly, there are 52,503 criminal charges or convictions associated with ICE detainers that have been rejected by municipalities in the Empire State under the leadership of President Trump.

To give you a better understanding of why this is so dangerous, crimes that have allegedly been committed by illegal migrants in New York include 131 homicides, 132 kidnappings, 1,017 sexual offenses, 1,561 counts of driving under the influence, 1,631 burglaries, 1,776 robberies and 2,198 weapons infractions.

“Governor Hochul has been clear: New York State is not and never will be a sanctuary for violent criminals,” Hochul’s spokeswoman, Alexia Nizhny, went on to tell The Post in a response to DHS’s claims. “By law, New York State always notifies federal immigration enforcement of any non-citizen serving a State prison sentence.”

“Any assertion otherwise is a blatant mischaracterization of the facts meant to distract from the cruelty and violence we saw from Secretary Mullin’s ICE agents earlier this week,” Nizhny said. It is estimated that nearly 2,000 individuals held in New York state facilities have been handed over to federal immigration enforcement under Trump.
