President Donald Trump, who is known for sparring with the mainstream media on a regular basis as he refuses to allow them to twist narratives concerning the actions he and his administration take, recently became so frustrated with the negative coverage he was receiving from three left-leaning outlets that he decided to ban them from the White House grounds.
Those three outlets are CNN, MS NOW, and Politico. Not long after the president dropped the ban hammer, the news outlets filed a lawsuit against the administration for allegedly violating the right to freedom of the press protected in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. And if that weren’t enough, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported recently that the whole affair is the fault of President Trump’s favorite aide, Natalie Harp.
Collins stated that Harp showed the president graphs and statistics that showed him receiving negative coverage from the above-mentioned networks, which allegedly “infuriated” him. All three networks have attempted to make the argument that the federal government does not have the authority to choose which journalists receive access to the White House simply based on whether officials approve of their reporting.
“Which is why now what had prompted this, and what we are told, my colleague Kevin Lipack and I, is that Natalie Harp, who is one of the president’s closest aides, as you know, she’s often in the Oval Office or on Air Force One, traveling with the president and has worked with him for years now, was showing him graphics last week of negative Politico coverage,” Collins reported live on air.
“The president was infuriated by that graphic that he was shown about Politico’s coverage, he also was upset about several TV clips that he had seen of his coverage of his administration and his presidency, and that is why he looped these three outlets together and announced that he was banning them from covering the White House on Friday, from accessing the White House grounds, having access to the Oval Office, and that is really what we are told is the only thing that our sources had heard is what prompted the president to take this action,” she added.
CNN also stated that the president’s key advisers were not present with him in the White House when he made his decision to boot the networks from the grounds and forbid them to provide coverage of him to the masses. Two of those advisers include chief of staff Susie Wiles and Vice President JD Vance. This isn’t the first time Harp has been slammed by the left.
Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff, who is in the middle of a reelection campaign, mentioned her by name in a speech criticizing President Trump, seemingly insinuating the two were engaged in an affair or some other sort of inappropriate relationship. In a joint statement, the networks said that the lawsuit was to “protect our First Amendment rights and defend the principle that the government does not decide what the press reports or publishes.”
