President Donald Trump has never been afraid to do what other presidents in the past were too scared to do, and that’s tackle the mainstream media head-to-head. Trump has time and again put the twisted left-wing propaganda makers and their lapdog reporters back in their place when they have attempted to push false narratives against him and his administration.
The president recently took that battle to an all-new level when he decided he’d had enough of certain outlets constantly reporting falsehoods about things he’s said at meetings and press briefings. Trump booted CNN, MS NOW, and Politico off White House grounds due to their biased reporting, stating that he believes the American people deserve to hear the full truth and not just the perspective of left-wing propagandists.
As a result of his actions, many news outlets claimed Trump was violating the right to free press that is protected under the Constitution, with CNN and MS NOW opting to file a lawsuit against him. Trump wasted no time striking back against such a ridiculous claim in a post published on Truth Social. “The White House is not instituting an assault on the Free Press, something which I cherish. It is instituting an assault on the FAKE NEWS, something that has grown like Cancer in our beloved United States of America,” the post read.
“It is corrupt, purposeful, pervasive, fully coordinated, and totally out of control,” Trump continued in the post. “It is a threat to our National Security, and must be stopped, NOW! Thank you for your attention to this matter.” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is one official in the Trump administration who totally agrees with the president and his war on fake news.
During an interview on CNBC, Bessent weighed in on the lawsuit by the mainstream media outlets and responded to questions concerning their strategy of utilizing it to somehow lash out at Trump. “I’m sure of the press cares more about the press than anything else. That after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, that they didn’t come in there to kill the press. They came in to kill the president,” Bessent explained.
“But all we heard about was the personal experiences of the press people in the room because somehow they they were they were more important. Same same thing with the aircraft in Ankara, that the the presidential pool saying, oh, we were so vulnerable. They were there to kill the president of the United States of America, and the Secret Service made a decision,” he continued.
“So again, one thing I am sure is that this will be covered by the by the press, and I think we we we could get back to something that is a little more. I can’t even remember which network it is. Fair and balanced,” he said. “But I think we have to get when we talk about equilibrium, clearly, for the legacy media, the equilibrium is so far out of kilter because the what the what group is one of the few that is less popular than the U.S. Congress, legacy media, and why is that?” Bessent asked.

“Because of the perceived bias. So the American people deserve good reporting. I couldn’t agree more. But you know, but we’ll see. We’ll see where,” he continued. The host of the program then broke in and said, “Stop the presses! All the different presidents. And and I will grant you that I think maybe Republican presidents that historically have had maybe a tougher time with mainstream media. But you’ve got Fox News that that has been all over Democratic presidents.”
“I just don’t think this is something we that will last in this country. We don’t do this in this country,” the host said. Bessent then said that President Trump has had one of the most transparent administration’s in history. Bessent noted that a number of reporters simply aren’t good at their job, often asking the president crazy questions and derailing the purpose of the interview.
