Republican commentator and Fox News contributor Karl Rove recently revealed that he would not be voting for Texas Railroad Commission nominee Bo French and would be supporting the Democratic candidate instead, angering GOP voters and MAGA supporters not only in Texas, but across the United States. Rove, who formerly served as an adviser to former President George W. Bush, stated that he’s voting for Democratic nominee Jon Rosenthal in the midterm election this November.
The announcement came just days after French drew heavy criticism from both Republicans and Democrats for posts made on social media about students at the University of Texas who were celebrating their Longhorns’ victory over Ohio State. On September 13, 2026, French shared a photo of a group of students of South Asian descent which included a controversial caption.
“Like body-cams exposed criminals, social media is exposing how many Americans have been displaced by foreigners. It’s everywhere and far worse than any of us could imagine,” French wrote. In a separate post that used the same photo, French stated that the picture showed how UT graduation had changed, saying the situation was “obviously far worse than anyone imagined.”
According to a report from the Austin American-Statesman, rather than course correct or apologize for the comments, French opted to double down, saying families in Texas can’t get into the school due to the university prioritizing foreigners over Texans. The posts also received harsh feedback from other major Texas Republicans, such as Sen. John Cornyn, House Speaker Dustin Burrows and former House Speaker Dade Phelan.
More than a few members of the GOP refused to condemn French and his comments, while others opted not to comment on the situation at all. “These people are diminishing the Republican Party, not building it,” Rove said in his op-ed. “I’ll have no part of it. This November, I’ll vote for only the second Democrat in my life. The first was Lt. Gov. Bob Bullock in 1994, because I thought he would work with Republicans.”
Constitutionalist and small business owner Steve Ferguson weighed in on Rove’s announcement on X, saying, “Rove is a frequent flyer on Fox News spreading his RINO bulls**t. ‘The Architect’ is way past his shelf life.” One user commented on Ferguson’s post, slamming Fox News for its choice of guests, writing, “It’s ONLY RINO guests, over and over.”
“Fox News ‘USE BY —–‘ date has expired. When Brett Baier started fawning over Talarico, I knew it was time to delete Fox News from my favorites. Then Maria Bartiromo was fired. Then I fired Lachlan Murdoch, bigly,” another user said. “Rove has been wrong about everything since 2004. The globalist Murdochs keep retaining him though because his views are the way they wish the world was.
Globalist WEF nonsense,” one user said.

“Democrats running as Republicans are as old as Jim Crow. I grew up in the South ‘Atlanta’ in the 1960s/70s at the end of Jim Crow and we knew back then that Democrats were running as Republicans. These Democrats were known as Dixiecrats of our days then and are now known as Blue Dogs,” someone else said. “I thought he was stupid when he was working for Bush Sr. He’s not gotten any smarter,” another individual commented.
