President Donald Trump is once again going toe-to-toe with a popular media figure, showcasing his fighting spirit and his unwillingness to allow the press to continue pushing false narratives against his administration. Trump took to his Truth Social account where he reignited his feud with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, a battle that has gone on for quite some time, but has peaked since the start of his second term.
The president started the post off hot, full guns blazing, attacking Collins’ intelligence and referring to her as “unhappy.” Collins has been the object of scrutiny from Trump in the past over her consistent scowling and lack of smiles on the job. “Very dumb and unhappy Fake News CNN ‘reporter’ Kaitlan Collins (really low ratings, also!), had a panel where discussions were all FICTION AND LIES,” Trump wrote.
“You would think that CNN, which is suffering terribly in the TV Ratings, would get rid of their 3rd rate ‘anchors,’ and try to bring credibility back to their once storied network. It is fading FAST! See you all at the Republican National Convention tomorrow night!!!” the president added. Trump’s fiery criticism followed a panel that was hosted by Collins featuring a New York Times reporter who claimed a recent rally the president attended in South Carolina was half empty.
According to a report from The Independent, the reporter said the audience was “really, really low energy.” Shawn McCreesh told Collins during the panel discussion that he had attended the Trump rally, which was held in Myrtle Beach in August, where President Trump was campaigning for Sen. Darline Graham, sister of the now deceased Sen. Lindsey Graham, in the GOP primary runoff race.
“I have to tell you, the energy in the room was really, really low,” McCreesh told Collins. “The place was not packed, the seats were full, but the back half of the convention center was empty.” As stated previously, Collins has been on the receiving end of Trump’s attacks before. During the White House Correspondents’ Dinner held in July 2026, the president slammed her for “never smiling.”
Collins responded to the attack during an appearance on Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show. “I’ve always felt this, regardless of who’s the president, whether it’s Joe Biden, Donald Trump,” she said. “It’s really not about me, and I don’t want it to be about my reaction. And so I think if you let it become about that, then it becomes a back and forth between the two of us.”
The anchor also stated that she felt it was far “more effective” if viewers focus their attention on the question she asked during those spats with the president, especially when he gets upset. “I just think in those moments, it’s important to put the reminder back on the work, on the question, and on the non-answers that we get,” she continued.

Liberal media outlets have consistently attempted to paint the president as a misogynist due to the encounters he’s had with female members of the press. In November 2025, the media tried to create a narrative that accused Trump of calling Bloomberg White House correspondent Catherine Lucey “piggy” when she interrupted him on Air Force One.
