A video clip of Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis going head-to-head with radical left-wing hecklers during a speaking engagement is going viral on social media as it showcases his fighting spirit and ability to think quickly under fire. DeSantis was interrupted by a woman who he accused of being paid by billionaire progressive George Soros, yelling back at the lady that “this ain’t my first rodeo.”
DeSantis was speaking at a campaign event in Tampa, discussing the state’s economy, when he was interrupted mid-sentence by a heckler. The governor wasted no time firing back at the disruptor, nor did he hold back in his response. “Hey, Soros isn’t paying you enough because you’re not very good at this,” he said as he pointed at the woman. Security quickly approached her in the crowd.
“You should try again,” DeSantis said as the crowd jeered the heckler. DeSantis kept going with the Soros line, saying, “He needs to pay some better talent instead of having people like you show up. This ain’t my first rodeo, lady. I’ve seen it all, and you ain’t very good at it.” And the woman wasn’t the only heckler in the audience.
Another individual stood up later in the evening and tried the same shtick. Again, DeSantis was quick on the draw, replying, “Let me just give you guys some advice: standing up and screaming is not effective. Okay? I’ve seen people try to do this over the years. Some are more effective than others. I remember I had Antifa charge me and one of our Florida Department of Law Enforcement leveled them, and it was funny, and it was good.”
“But here’s the deal,” he leaned over the podium. “I think Soros is tightening his wallet because the people he’s paying are terrible at this. He used to hire people who were really good. Now they’re just screeching, and it’s almost like, I don’t even know what it is. And so, listen, you should be respectful, you should listen.”
“This is part of the civic process,” he added. “But, if you’re not going to do that, do a better job at protesting, please. Gosh.” According to a report from Fox News, conservatives on X were thrilled with how DeSantis handled the situation. Commentator Eric Daugherty reacted to a post of the clip saying, “THAT’S MY GOVERNOR!! DeSantis just PUMMELED a leftist heckler who disrupted his speech tonight.”
Another person who simply goes by Greg also reacted to the clip, saying, “Soros protester is re-thinking opening her mouth at the RPOF [Republican Party of Florida] Event. DeSantis with the takedown.” The DeSantis Appreciation Society account commented, “The Tribal Chief @RonDeSantis just bodied a Soros protester into next week at the RPOF event.”

“DeSantis is a legend. Absolutely obliterated a liberal heckler, lol. Best governor ever!” another popular conservative account stated. Soros’ philanthropic group, the Open Society Foundations, responded to the episode by pointing Fox to a statement made in 2025 that said, “We do not pay people to protest or directly train or coordinate protestors.”
The statement then went on to say that nonviolent public protests are “hallmarks of any vibrant society,” adding that, “All Open Society grantees are required to comply with the law and we expect our grantees to uphold our shared commitment to human rights, dignity, and nonviolence.” DeSantis is serving his second consecutive term in office and will not be eligible to run for another consecutive term this year.
