Massive Network Backing Mamdani Gets Exposed

New reports have emerged exposing the massive network of over 200 social media influencers that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration has built as a means of spreading positive propaganda concerning the implementation of his agenda, which is deeply grounded in Democratic socialist ideology, to the residents of the city.

The influencers received talking points from City Hall, along with video clips, and access to the officials within the Mamdani administration itself, as part of the mayor’s rather aggressive effort to help push and promote programs for the Big Apple online, demonstrating that gone are the days of propaganda being passed around in leaflets and pamphlets and here to stay is the power of short-form video.

The New York City creators who were made part of Mamdani’s network are openly independent influencers with much of their work centering on the promotion of city services and initiatives. A report soon to be released from Columbia Journalism School’s Tow Center for Digital Journalism and the Initiative for Policy Dialogue identified a total of 189 influencers with deep connections to Mamdani’s administration.

The report also took a look at a private Signal group called “NYC Creators Announcements.” According to Mediaite, the group, which members claim has well over 200 creators, started out as Creators4Zohran, an organization established in support of Mamdani’s mayoral campaign. Emilia Rowland, who serves as City Hall’s director of new media and cultural communications, administers the group.

According to information contained in the report, it does not appear that the influencers are being paid for their participation in the group. However, it also states that city agencies do put some influencers on contract for individual campaigns that promote programs concerning issues like voting, healthcare, immigration and tenants’ rights, participatory budgeting and composting.

Employees working for the city spoke with researchers and revealed that influencers individually receive between $5,000 and $20,000 for each campaign via marketing and advertising firms that are contracted by agencies. In other words, when it comes to specific agenda items, influencers on an individual basis are able to make a pretty penny for creating propaganda to push pet programs.

Some of the creators have stated that they participate without receiving any pay due to viewing the distribution of city information as a public service. One such individual is Instagram influencer Jose Vilson. “The majority of us don’t want to just be associated with Zohran,” Vilson told the researchers. “We want to ask good questions because we care about the city.”

The Mediaite report then noted that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has also been working to find ways to utilize social media influencers, though there has apparently been a little controversy concerning information that was made known to the individuals within his network. Hegseth’s group of influencers was allegedly given official government email addresses, suffixed .civ, and were referred to as “civilian employees, rather than as military personnel or contractors.”

Mamdani’s radical tax scheme got shut down as well:
