LeBron James is difficult to understand. He’s one of the greatest basketball players of all time, but he comes across as insecure in plenty of his off-court dealing, and that was no different when he posted a Tweet about his most recent dream about Michael Jordan. As James’ career is approaching its end, he seems dead-set on trying to cement himself as the greatest player ever, ahead of MJ.
On March 5, James said this about his crazy dream, which many fans believe was an outright lie:
“Just woke up from having a dream that MJ and I was shooting the sh*+ back and forth at the Men’s National Championship game between North Carolina/Duke! Great vibes and EPIC CLASSIC GAME! It was a tie game/94-94/5 secs left/NC with the ball. My ass would wake up to use the bathroom right before seeing the ending of the game. Happens all the time. Never get to the end. Anyways felt real as hell. Lol. Gm everyone”

This isn’t the first time James has been accused of lying online. In November 2022, NBA fans widely mocked James after he lied about his first time hearing the famous rap group Migos. According to Yahoo Sports, James said:
“I was listening to those guys my first year with the Heat in 2010. You can ask any one of my teammates back then, they had no idea who the Migos was… I was like ‘I’m telling you these guys are next.”
Well, he was half right. Migos became a sensation in the rap industry, creating a new sound that many after them tried to inherit. But they didn’t release their first songs until 2011. LeBron should at least fact-check his claims before making them. Then, there was this hilarious moment when a reporter asked Lebron James about a Malcolm X biography that the player decided to bring to a press conference.

That sounded eerily similar to me giving a presentation about the Odyssey by Homer in high school. Having never cracked the book open, I’m getting secondhand embarrassment listening to James try to explain his new reading material. Why on earth did he bring that book to show to the press? The world might never know. Twitter has caught on to James’ embellishments and has begun to pour on the insults.
One user said, “LeBron’s ability to tell brazen lies, is to be commended tbh. He doesn’t stop even when everyone knows he’s lying.” Another user said, “Bruh just Blatantly fabricated an entire dream bruh.”
LeBron’s season on the court has been less than ideal, with the Lakers struggling to find a groove and mesh well. James did, however, break the all-time points record in the NBA, an achievement that it seemed only he would be able to reach. While he may not be the most popular player of his generation, he has shown incredible durability throughout his time in the sport. Couple that with his excellent skill level, and it is no surprise that he beat one of the sport’s most untouchable records.
