If Democrats thought they were going to breeze through the November 2026 midterm election cycle and pick up enough seats to flip things around for them in the proceeding month, CNN data analyst Harry Enten has some bad news. Things are not looking likely to go the way the left wants them to go, but conservatives say this is nobody’s fault but their own and is the natural consequence of refusing to course correct away from radical left-wing ideology.
“How are voters feeling about Democrats right now?” CNN anchor Kate Bolduan asked Enten, who then dumped a bucket of cold water on the hopes and dreams of the left when it comes to taking back control of Congress. “Yeah, I mean Democrats in the minds of the American public are lower than the Dead Sea. What are we talking about here? Well, let’s take a look,” the data analyst said.
“The net approval rating for Democrats in Congress-you said it, Kate Bolduan-the lowest ever. Look at this. Overall, they are 55 points underwater. Their approval rating is south of 20 percent. It’s even worse when you look at independents. Look at this: negative 61 points. That means that their approval rating is 61 points lower than their disapproval rating,” Enten explained, bringing up graphics on the screen to display the numbers.
“Quinnipiac has been polling this question for the better part of the 21st century. They have never found Democrats, at least those in Congress, in worse shape than they are right now,” he added. According to a report from Yahoo News, Enten then brought up a graphic that showed congressional Democrats’ ratings with voters in their own party having dropped from +22 points to -6 points, a decline of 28 points in total.
Bolduan then asked Enten for his thoughts on whether Democrats have a shot at taking back control of Congress in the midterm elections this fall, a question reverberating through the minds of every liberal in the country upon seeing the abysmal numbers. “The answer is yes. But in my mind, it’s definitely hurting them.” He pointed to the generic congressional ballot, where Democrats currently lead by just 4 points,” he answered cautiously.
Later in the segment, Enten said that a lot of Democrats believe they can “spike that ball in the end zone,” but he cautioned that while it’s possible the party could be on the way to a congressional majority, success in the midterms “might be a tougher road to hoe than normally.” He then added, “When you have numbers like this, hold the phone just a second.”
Many conservatives also believe that while things are favorable for the GOP, it’s important not to put the cart in front of the horse, especially with the alarming success that candidates from the Democratic Socialists of America are having. Many of DSA’s candidates for local, state, and even a few federal races, have managed to win primaries against incumbent Democrats.

This is a major concern due to the recent platform change made by the DSA, which calls for several major, extremely radical, changes to be made to the very foundation of the United States. For example, the DSA wants to see both the Senate and the Supreme Court completely eradicated. Along with that, they would like to see the office of the presidency disposed of as well.
