A woman in Chicago, Shaynella Williams, was just charged with attempted murder for a recent stabbing. She randomly stabbed an innocent individual inside a Chicago laundromat in that shocking, violent incident. That incident occurred in January. She was, at the time of the stabbing, on bail for a similar crime of stabbing a random person last summer.
During that incident, Williams was accused of “cutting a 23-year-old woman with a sharp object on June 18 in the 1700 block of West North Avenue, police said.” Despite the violence and randomness of that crime, both of which would seemingly point toward her being a danger to society and needing to remain locked up, she was released on bail.
Williams used that freedom to do the same thing again, stabbing a random woman in a Chicago-area laundromat in January and being arrested for that on March 1st. Announcing the situation in a March 2nd press release, the Chicago Police Department said, “The above offender was arrested by the Chicago Police Department on March 01, 2023, in the 2700 block of S. California Ave. She was positively identified as the offenders who stabbed and seriously injured a 61-year-old female victim with a dangerous weapon on January 12, 2023 at approximately 7:35 a.m., in the 4300 block of W. 26th St. (10th District). The offender was placed into custody and charged accordingly. No additional information is available at this time.”
CWB Chicago, reporting on that, noted that:
Four weeks ago, Williams was arrested again after police determined that she randomly stabbed four more people in January while on bail for last year’s case.
Now, prosecutors say, Williams is responsible for yet another random attack in January. Chicago police announced attempted murder charges against Williams in the new case this week.
Officials say Williams walked into a laundromat in the 4300 block of West 26th Street and stabbed a 61-year-old woman in the leg around 7:20 a.m. on January 12. Williams fled the scene in a red car — allegedly the same red vehicle that other victims and witnesses described to police after other attacks.

It’s likely incidents like this that are the reason current Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot didn’t even make it to the runoff election and challenger Paul Vallas did quite well. Paul Vallas, who came in first and will be headed to the runoff, is likely the best option for Chicago, even if a Democrat. That’s because he’s reasonable enough that his opponents accused him of being a Republican, as Politico reported, saying:
Vallas won the endorsement of Chicago’s conservative Fraternal Order of Police and faced accusations from his rivals of being a Republican despite declaring himself a Democrat.
Lightfoot, who was trailing in many polls ahead of the election, attracted a tremendous amount of criticism over how she operated in City Hall.
Additionally, his Twitter account liked posts calling for a return to stop and frisk policies, so maybe a Vallas victory will mean a return to rational law enforcement in Chiraq, whereas Lori Lightfoot’s Chicago lets people out of jail even if they’ve been randomly stabbing innocent Chicagoans.
