Beloved FOX 2 News anchor Kellie Rowe published a post on Facebook announcing that she is leaving the network after a decade of being on the air. FOX 2 is an affiliate station out of Detroit, Michigan. Her lengthy post not only revealed that she was leaving, but also offered a deeper, reflective look at her thoughts on where she is at in her life.
“FOX 2 has been my home since shortly after graduating from Michigan State. I grew up there, both professionally and personally. Over the years I had the chance to do just about every job in the newsroom — anchoring, sports, traffic, weather, reporting, I tried it all. From covering Tigers Spring Training in Florida to partnering with Michigan Humane to showcase adoptable dogs at the Auto Show, there are far too many memories to count,” Rowe opened up in her post.
Rowe then discusses how making the decision to leave wasn’t easy, but she could tell it was time to start a new chapter in her life. “Leaving isn’t an easy decision, but I knew it was time. To be candid, I have some healing to do. My goal is to slow down, reconnect with myself, and learn to appreciate a quieter life. I don’t know what’s next, but I’m so thankful for a support system that’s giving me the time to figure it out,” the anchor said.
“I am looking forward to meeting the best version of myself. I plan to share that journey here because I think other people need to hear it, too. It’s easy to think everyone else has life figured out, especially online, but I think we’re all craving authenticity and real connections more than ever,” she said. Rowe then took an opportunity to thank viewers for their support over the years.
“If you’ve watched me over the years, thank you for allowing me to grow up in front of you. Thank you for welcoming me into your homes, stopping me on the street to say hi, sharing your stories with me, laughing with me, and allowing me to be part of your mornings. I promise I never took it for granted,” she continued. “Please, if you feel so inclined, still say hi if you ever see me — I’d just love that.”
She then encouraged her followers to continue ribbing the Weather Boys at the network in her absence. “Also please bully the Weather Boys in my absence, they really need it,” she said. “FOX 2 has shaped so much of who I am, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and the people who believed in me along the way. This isn’t goodbye. It’s just the beginning of my next adventure, and I hope you’ll come along.”
Her followers were supportive of her moving on to the next chapter in her life, but also expressed they will miss seeing her on the air. “I’ve always enjoyed your authenticity and from the heart stories. I think what endeared me to you was the ‘sleeve incident’ some knucklehead whined about the sleeves on your dress…. Of course you wore them for the next few days,” one user said.

I will miss seeing you in the morning,” another individual commented. Someone else wrote, “Congrats. But who’s gonna piss off the fashion police now?!”
