WATCH: Nick Shirley Has a Perfect, Hilarious Response to Gavin Newsom after Newsom Ridiculously Insults Him

During testimony provided before Congress, independent journalist Nick Shirley, the young man who is largely responsible for exposing massive fraud in both Minnesota and California, and has inspired the Trump administration to begin a nationwide crackdown on fraudulent activities, especially in the healthcare sector, gave an excellent response to California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom referring to him as mentally challenged.

Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL) spent a significant amount of time praising Shirley during her questioning period for the work he has done to shake things up and shine a light into the dark on fraud being perpetrated in Minneapolis by members of the Somali community, many of them in the country illegally, who have created a number of fake daycare facilities and centers in order to bilk federal programs like Medicaid out of millions of dollars.

“And boy, does it take somebody like you that is fine with that, because you’re driven by passion for protecting your generation, because you’re coming after all of us, and will feel this immensely in the debt that you inherit. And I am so grateful to you for showing up here and showing that age, no matter your age, no matter where you’re from, Americans should demand that their government is accountable to them and are good stewards of their money,” Moody told Shirley during the hearing.

A few moments later, she brought up the atrocious comments from Newsom, saying, “And look at what the leader of California said. Did he really slay in response to you uncovering just astronomical fraud and waste? That and I want to quote this because I am appalled by it. Did he really say ‘Slow Shirley, is the fraud?'” Moody asked the young independent journalist, who acknowledged that Newsom refers to him as “Slow Shirley.”

“I didn’t misread that? That wasn’t misprinted?” Moody asked. “No,” Shirley replied. “So, directly, somebody that wants to be the leader of the Democratic Party and show his great, I guess, character, is demeaning you and call you names and ridiculing you? Really?” He then said, “Yes, that is Gavin Newsom.” How Shirley followed up is being hailed by conservatives as brilliant. Rather than engage in name calling, he provides facts about Newsom and his own greasy behavior.

“Yes, and actually, Gavin Newsom just yesterday he’s giving now $20 million to local journalists. They’re going to be able to get grants up to $250,000 to do journalism inside of California. He’s essentially paying for good press with our tax dollars as well,” Shirley told Moody. The senator then brings up the “Stop Nick Shirley Act,” a piece of legislation that is trying to stop independent journalists like Shirley from investigating potential fraud.

“I have to also commend my other colleague, Mr. Johnson, who was saying, you know, in California, instead of the Stop Nick Shirley Act, they should call it the Protect Fraudsters Act. I mean, truly, this should be a wake-up call to everyone in America that the people that the Dems want to put in charge of their parties and in charge of their government, as soon as something is brought to their attention in a good faith way, their response is not to say, ‘Let’s roll up our sleeves and dig in,” Moody said.

“The response is to say ‘nothing to see here.’ The person that is bringing it up is, let me make sure I have this, ‘slow and a fraud himself,’ and let’s propose legislation not only so that we can keep covering it up, but that we can go after them,” the senator added. “Yes, and I wanted this to be on the record. Never once has a Democrat politician ever congratulated me or said thank you for exposing this,” Shirley revealed. “They are quite frankly complicit in the fraud, and that’s why none of them are here today.”
