Mike Rogers, the Republican candidate for a Michigan Senate seat who is now competing against Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, made an appearance on Fox News where he completely shredded his opponent and took the Democratic Party to task for embracing hardcore socialist principles and values, despite their rejection by the American people.
Rogers’ comments, which are going viral thanks to a clip of the interview being shared across social media, kick off with the Republican candidate stating that once people get to see who El-Sayed really is, they will not support him. “Once that people get to know what he really stands for, remember, in the last few months, there was not even a reporter who asked him how you’re going to pay for Medicare for all,” he said during the segment.
“And didn’t explain to the UAW that he plans on taking their hard-negotiated healthcare and handing it off to the government,” he continued, going on to add, “Once people start to understand what he’s talking about and what he really believes. Really, people just find it hard to believe that he could have this stance and win the Democrat nomination. And again, this isn’t your dad’s Democrat Party or your grandparents’ Democrat Party.”
“It has changed,” he told Fox News host Sean Hannity. Rogers then shared the upside of running against someone as radical as El-Sayed. “Here’s the good news, Sean. We’re getting a lot of folks who are Democrats who are saying in the state, we can’t do this. This can’t be the direction of the state and the country. And they’re joining on to the Rogers for Senate campaign. A lot of them go to rogersforsenate.com and hop on there and talk to us and get involved in the campaign,” he said during the interview.
Rogers then pointed out the challenge Republicans face in the Michigan race and in others around the country, namely that of helping folks understand the socialist policies being pushed by candidates like El-Sayed and the problems those policies pose for regular Americans. “But what we have to do is make sure that everybody understands. I mean, this guy has come out against Mackinac Island, the iconic tourist attraction that is is very popular in the state of Michigan, he hates that,” Rogers explained.
“And you just go down this list. He wants to ban gasoline cars. I don’t know if he checked, but we build gasoline cars in Michigan. I don’t know if he knew that or not. I mean, this guy is so wrong and so radical for our state. Once people know this, I think we’re going to be in good shape going into November, and that’s why the Democrats, I think, are in a little bit of a tizzy,” he added.
Rogers then noted that all of this has Democrats putting their efforts into pushing El-Sayed, despite how radically left-wing his policies are. “But boy, they’re circling the wagons. The Democrats are circling their wagons around a guy who is identifies with all the socialist policies. He doesn’t believe in prisons. He wants violent offenders and sex offenders let out,” Rogers explained to Hannity.

“I mean, this guy is just one hit after another about how out of line he is with people in Michigan who really they get up to work every day. Sean, this is a hardworking state. We’re not the Rust Belt. We are the work belt. eople kiss their kids, get them on the bus and they go to work for a shift, building some incredible things across the state. They just want common sense. They don’t want crazy,” Rogers concluded.
