Billionaire reality star and social media influencer Kim Kardashian is finding herself in the crosshairs of a major FBI investigation as federal authorities are tracking down the lead perpetrator of a massive foreign fraud scandal. Kardashian reportedly accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash from Jho Low, who is now hiding in communist China.
Whether knowingly or unknowingly, Kardashian’s ties to Low date back to at least 2009 when the two paired up in Las Vegas for a red carpet event in which the Malaysian fund manager paid her $50,000. He would later reportedly gift her hundreds of thousands of dollars with which to gamble, and she apparently took a flight home to Los Angeles with more than $250,000 in cash in her carry-on bag.
A former Malaysian Prime Minister was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for his role in the swindling that took place over years.
The Daily Wire reported on the massive scandal stretching both oceans and continents, saying:
Malaysian financier Jho Low helped start the fund in 2009 to allegedly promote economic development for the Asian nation, Reuters reported. The report said that the scandal erupted into the largest kleptocracy investigation ever conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice with at least $4.5 billion stolen from the public fund and moved into offshore accounts with billions more still not accounted for. Malaysia says that Low, who is on the run from U.S. authorities, is hiding in China.
After their first 2009 encounter, the Daily Wire wrote that the “two partied and gambled together frequently, including an awkward incident where he gifted her hundreds of thousands of dollars of chips after she stayed up and gambled with him in Las Vegas.”
Kardashian has been “grilled” by FBI agents as they explore the reach and whereabouts of Low.
And, of course, it should come as no surprise that Kardashian is not the only A-list celebrity who got ensnared in the orbit of an influential international billionaire. The Daily Wire also revealed that Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio has also been implicated in working with Low.
DiCaprio’s epic 2013 film “The Wolf of Wall Street” was, unbeknownst to the general public at the time, financed by the Malaysian white-collar criminal. The FBI allegedly presented past communications to DiCaprio during his own sit-down with the feds, and he denied having ever written them, saying it didn’t seem like something he would say or do. At the same time, the two were close enough that their own mothers met one another. DiCaprio would also go on to work with Low on other business ventures even after being made aware of Low’s scandal.
The Hollywood Reporter noted that in addition to financing “The Wolf of Wall Street,” the American actor and Asian financier held several professional and social engagements in wich they plotted other ventures.
The pair also dreamed up a $1 billion fund for more films, a Warner Bros. theme park in Asia with rides based on the A-lister’s movies, plus an eco-friendly resort in Belize. Along the way, their social lives became entwined, with DiCaprio introducing Low to his friends as “my man” and Low calling DiCaprio “Ldogg.”
