A reporter with liberal news network MS NOW got less than what she was hoping for after taking an in-your-face approach to questioning conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, attempting to get a detailed answer as to who he was visiting on the House side of Congress. Thomas was taking a stroll through a hallway when the reporter repeatedly asked him the same question, to which he mostly answered with chuckling.
The reporter asked Thomas who he just paid a visit to, with Thomas replying, “Oh, nobody.” He laughed, clearly having a good time at the reporter’s expense. She then asked him if he was there to meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). Thomas said no. “Then what are you doing up here today?” reporter Mychael Schnell asked. “Oh, just walking,” he said, turning toward Schnell and grinning. Another chuckle escaped his lips.
Schnell then pressed Thomas about potential meetings he might have had while in this part of Congress. “None that I’ll tell you about,” Thomas said with another laugh. “Tomorrow will be a big day at court, huh? Final decisions?” she followed up. Thomas responded with three words. “I guess so.” Schnell inquired if the justice would give her any information about the upcoming decisions. “Uh, nope!” he laughed.
A reporter from The Daily Caller then revealed that Schnell asked him yet again why he was on the House side of Congress and what his meetings might have concerned. “Anyone in House GOP Leadership? That’s who has offices in there,” Schnell asked Thomas. Later in the brief encounter, Thomas stopped answering altogether and only laughed in response. “You wanna answer any of them? Any comment at all?” Schnell pressed. “No,” Thomas said, chuckling.
The Supreme Court justice briefly paused to shake the hand of a police officer who thanked him before continuing his trek down the hallway. This isn’t the first time Thomas has toyed with a member of the press. In fact, his back-and-forth with a reporter from infamous tabloid publication TMZ made him a popular internet GIF in 2016.

The reporter spotted Thomas coming out of the Capital Grille after lunch and asked him a bunch of questions. He responded by asking why the reporter was photobombing him. As the reporter introduced himself, Thomas informed him, “I know you. I’m just giving you a hard time.” Thomas is the second -longest serving justice on the Supreme Court.
If he completes two more years of service, he will take the top spot and become the longest-serving justice. The last time Thomas appeared before Congress to provide testimony was in 2010. One individual in the comment section brought up an excellent point about Thomas and his tenure on the bench. “He will be hard to replace. On one hand, you don’t want to lose him from the Court,” the person wrote.
“On the other, he is getting up there in years, and you don’t want him to retire (or die) with a Democrat President in office,” the user pointed out. “One thing you can count on Clarence Thomas for is a common sense constitutional decision. Another is his love of God, family, and country,” someone else went on to say.
