Former Special Counsel Jack Smith is insisting that there’s no way he could be convinced to collapse under the pressure being pushed on him by President Donald Trump and his administration. Smith sat down for an interview with MS NOW host Nicolle Wallace and stated there’s “no way” President Trump could intimidate him into silence, saying that it would be a “grave miscalculation” to think going after him would prevent him from speaking up.
During their conversation, Wallace asked the former special counsel about the president’s ability to be elected for a second time, despite “the facts showed he’d committed multiple felonies.” Smith replied, “My view, Nicolle, is our country’s been a lot of things at a lot of different times, and what generally happens is when something really bad happens, Watergate, for example, we respond, and we get better as a result,”
“I’m not saying the Justice Department has been perfect every day, but the people I worked with, I saw people trying to move things in the right direction,” he added. Smith explained that it would be “foolish” to deny that the U.S. is “facing challenges right now,” going on to add, “But when you face a challenge like we are today, you have a choice about the attitude you take towards it.”
“Anyone can put anything on you, but you have a choice about the attitude you take. For me, and I think a lot of the people that I’ve worked with, our view is, ‘I want to behave now in a way that my kids will be proud of. I want to act in a way that when I’m retired, I look back on this time and say, I did things right’. I think a lot of people relate to that, and I think it’s understandable. And I think if we start aligning actions with our beliefs, it’s a huge, huge step,” the former special counsel told Wallace, according to a report from Mediaite.
Smith then claimed that his being “targeted” by President Trump, who has called for several investigations to be launched into his activities after he used lawfare against him during the 2024 presidential race, helped him discover “who runs towards the fire, who kind of backs away,” which he said is something that can be “difficult in the moment.”
He then said that he’s not afraid of suffering consequences in the future for continuing to speak the “truth,” pledging he would not back down. “I am not going to be intimidated. And there’s no way in the world… if the thought was to go after me so that I wouldn’t speak up about the corruption that’s happening or speak up to defend these agents and prosecutors, that is a grave miscalculation. There is no way that I’m going to be intimidated,” Smith concluded.
The comment section on an X post sharing the Mediaite story featured a number of replies from individuals who aren’t buying what Smith is selling. “Jack’s going DOWN. Let us hope he gets enough years behind bars to adequately reflect his criminality, something like 50 years would do,” Eddy Sigfried wrote. “Dude really fell for the Kool-Aid and thought he was someone for a minute,” another individual said.

Another person went on to wisecrack, “You have the right to remain silent.” Someone else replied, “Dude has read way too many of his own press clippings.” One user summed it up best by going on to say, “He’s going to have a harder time finding someone who gives a s**t.” Another individual, commenting on the actual Mediaite story, referred to Smith as “irrelevant.”
