MS Now host Joe Scarborough recently had Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ) on his “Morning Joe” program, where the two of them ganged up on President Donald Trump and his administration over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centers, referring to them as “internment camps” similar to those that were used by Nazi Germany in World War II.
During the segment, Scarborough asked Grijalva, “What do you say to the people who are still numb to all of this about what’s going on inside these internment camps? What do they need to know to wake up to the horrors that Americans and refugees and people who are here legally are going through right now every day in internment camps paid for by them.”
“Open your eyes and wake up,” Grijalva said slowly for obvious dramatic effect. “Literally wake up. Because the problem that I see is that this administration makes blanket statements about what’s not happening and we have a portion of our nation, people that believe them blindly, even if they can see, even if they know what’s happening, they hear what’s happening, they can see it with their own eyes.”
“If this administration says it’s a lie, then they believe it,” the Arizona Democrat continued. “And that, to me, we have to realize that 91% of the people in detention right now in these concentration camps are in private prisons.” This isn’t the only time that Scarborough has referred to ICE detention centers as concentration camps. According to a report from The Huffington Post via Yahoo News, the MS Now host also claimed that detainees in these facilities are receiving “savage treatment.”
“You have so many things going on here,” Scarborough said about the detention centers. “First of all, just the savage treatment that so many of these detainees are getting, that we get reports out of a man from Northern Ireland who was held there for months and months, basically said it was like a concentration camp.”
“You have other stories of abuse, lights on around the clock, just the most savage, inhumane conditions in some of these facilities,” he continued during a different episode of his program several days later. He then said that the Department of Homeland Security has been lying to the American people about what’s really going on in the detention centers.
“You have DHS, who has lied to Americans time and time and time again. They’ve lied over and over and over again,” he continued. “So who is going to believe DHS? Who is going to believe ICE when they are lying about the conditions that so many of these detainees are being held in? Nobody! The answer is nobody! And yet it continues. And not only that, it expands.”

Tammy Gonzales commented on a clip of the interview with Scarborough and Grijalva, saying, “Communist propaganda! What about criminal illegal aliens that are trafficking, abusing, exploiting and imprisoning innocent young immigrant children, women and men. DHS is attempting to save their lives. But democrats don’t care, they just want their kickbacks!” Someone else summed it up by writing, “These people are mental.”
