In an unintentionally very funny appearance on MS NOW’s “The Last Word” program that took place on Monday, June 29, Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-PA) angrily denounced Secretary of State Marco Rubio for allegedly humiliating her in front of Congress by cutting off her microphone and roasting a question that she asked as being stupid.
Apparently, the incident occurred during a conference call regarding the American conflict with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and was provoked by Rubio getting exceedingly annoyed by whatever ridiculous questions the Democrat representative has asked as he tried to give the briefing, and he called her out for it.
For whatever reason, Rep. Dean publicized the incident on MS NOW rather than just trying to sweep it under the rug to make herself look less ridiculous. Beginning the story, she said, “We had a conference call. It was not a classified call with, Secretary Rubio and Mr. Wyckoff.”
Describing the setup of the call before getting to the part where Rubio roasted her, she said, “And it was bipartisan members of Congress, House members, Republicans, Democrats. Mr. Rubio gave a very brief opening, just talking about the, the shots back and forth over the course of the last four days, then sent it open to questions.”
Still not done, she went on to inisist that she hadn’t learned anything from what Secretary Rubio said, which is likely quite true. She snapped, “We didn’t learn much of anything. I have to be very, very honest with you. And it was all based on talking about the MOU [Memorandum of Understanding], the 14-point MOU.”
That’s when she got to the part where Secretary Rubio made her look ridiculous. She said, “I did ask a set of questions, to the secretary and to Mr. Wyckoff, which really piqued his ire. He cut my mic off, and said, he called my question ‘smart-assed and stupid,’ cut my mic off, and said, there’s your answer.”
Then, rambling about the ending to the war with, it can be assumed, the sort of ridiculous questions she asked him, she said, “I was simply asking tough questions about who wrote the MOU. Why does it sound so in favor of Iran? And from literally paragraph one, we’re already out of sync with what was to happen.”

Taking the opportunity to then start shaking her fist at the idea of the war, the congresswoman said, “I also mentioned the fact and I think we should never forget that in this reckless, unconstitutional war, which is what I said to the gentleman on the call, 13 service members have died. We must never forget that hundreds have been wounded and thousands of civilians killed throughout the region.”
Finally chiming in, guest host Jonathan Capehart asked, “Wow. Did anyone object to the Secretary of State speaking to you in that manner at all?” Rep. Dean responded by insisting to him, “On a chain for members my colleagues were outraged, said it’s unacceptable, disrespectful.”
