The Supreme Court decided to strike down President Donald Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship, ruling that birth tourism and all the other sorts of taking advantage of a law originally meant to ensure that the children of freed slaves would be United States citizens must be allowed under the 14th Amendment, for now at least.
President Trump, while obviously disappointed with the result of the case, the hearing for which he went to attend in person, becoming the first sitting United States President to do so, quickly took to his Truth Social social media platform to discuss how the ruling might be gotten around and birthright citizenship ended despite it.
Namely, he argued that while the case went against him and the administration attempting to end birthright citizenship through an executive order, it left open the door to handle the problem through Congressional action, as a law ending birthright citizenship pre-empting the amendment and clarifying that foreigners’ kids are not Americans would be perfectly legal.
Beginning that post on Truth Social in which he highlighted the congressional opportunity, he said, “The Supreme Court upheld Birthright Citizenship, which is too bad for our Country, but we can easily make it up in Congress through Legislation, with the support of the President, that has now been determined during this process.”
Continuing, he noted that no amendment is necessary here, under the ruling, and that it is thus time to end the problem via Congress. He said, “No long and unwieldy Constitutional Amendment is necessary! Congress should start TODAY to work on ending expensive and unfair to our Country, Birthright Citizenship. They will have my Complete and Total Support!”
In another post, he attacked the Supreme Court for putting American national security at risk by allowing Chinese birth tourism, saying, “I would like to congratulate President Xi, and the Great Country of China, on their massive Birthright Citizenship WIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
And, in yet another post from around the same time, he highlighted that a much more immediately important ruling was a victory allowing him to purge the Deep State by firing bureaucrats; he said, “The biggest and most consequential Decision issued by the Court, by far, is the Slaughter Case, which overturned the very famous Humphrey’s Executor Rule.”

He continued, highlighting the ruling’s importance, “This whole concept of “Power” has been fought over for nearly 100 years, going all the way back to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, where a large slice of his Power was taken away. He fought to regain it, even wanting to “pack the Court,” but was unsuccessful in doing so. This Decision gives tremendous additional Power back to the Presidency, where it belongs.”
He concluded, “It is an Honor to be the sitting President who, after all these years, WON this very important, and hard fought, Case. We had other good Victories, too, and we also had the Birthright Citizenship loss, which we will work to correct in Congress, but the big SLAUGHTER, was SLAUGHTER. The Republican Party was treated very fairly by the United States Supreme Court. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
