Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul did not get the crowd response she was hoping for during the ribbon cutting event for the new Buffalo Bills stadium, trying to start a chant in support of the team, but ultimately, failing rather miserably. Hochul, who is a native of Buffalo, took the podium sporting a Bills hat and a blue-and-white blazer and shirt combo at the freshly completed Highmark Stadium where she kicked off her comments with an “alright let’s get this party started, let’s go!”
The crowd responded with a smattering of applause that was far less enthusiastic than one would expect from hometown fans of a professional sports team. However, Hochul remained undeterred, legitimately excited it seems, for the opening of the new stadium. She then fired out a chant of “Buffalo, let’s go!” hoping to get the folks attending the event to join in the call-and-response, going so far as to point to either side of the crowd to give them their cue.
The silence she was met with was so intense she quickly abandoned the effort and then called out the crowd for being lethargic. “Alright, seriously? You want to win a championship season with that kind of enthusiasm? Men and women of labor you know what I’m talking about,” Hochul said. She tried a second time to get the audience involved in the chant, but, alas, the second time was most certainly not the charm.
According to a report from The New York Post, when the Democratic governor finally accepted the fact that nobody was going to participate in the chant, she said, “We gotta give this place some good karma, right?” The stadium, which has a capacity of 60,000 seats, cost $2.1 billion to build, and will be the home for the Bills for the next three decades.
The comment section on a video of the embarrassing interaction did not spare Hochul in the slightest. One user on X, Michael Severo, posted a cover from an edition of the New York Post featuring a drawing of the Democratic governor in a communist-style beret with the words “Comrade Kathy” emblazoned below. Severo said, “It’s payback time. People are sick and tired of these communists.”
Someone else posted a meme from the popular film The Wizard of Oz, featuring the characters of Dorothy and the Scarecrow, with Dorothy saying, “But how do you talk without a brain?” to which the Scarecrow responds, “I’m a Democrat.” Another individual wrote, “Hochul is a fraud. People like her and Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries have lost their party to radical left communists. These aren’t real leaders. They are just low-IQ frauds.”
“Maybe because you have allowed New York to become an absolute joke. Allowing a socialist mayor to push major corporations out of the financial capital of the world. These people don’t support you. You don’t care about any of us,” NYCSportsSizzle commented on the video of Hochul. “Kathy Hochul’s ‘Let’s Go Bills!’ in Buffalo got the same response as her governorship: dead silence and a stampede for the exits,” The Ugly Patriot said.

“Kathy Hochul is so pathetic. She’s just another useless Democrat Criminal Politician,” Eddie Morales replied in the comments. Someone else explained that Hochul isn’t well liked across the state of New York, only in New York City. “I’ve been a Bill’s fan for 69 years. No one in NY likes her except the idiots in NYC,” user Gary Castine said.
