Stand-up comic and co-creator of hit television series such as Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm Larry David is not at all a fan of President Donald Trump or the amazing Ultimate Fighting Championship fight card he hosted at the White House to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States. And that’s putting it mildly.
While making an appearance at the premiere of his new series, Life, Larry, and the Pursuit of Unhappiness, David, 78, whined about the event, going on to say it hurt his feelings and made him “embarrassed” to be an American. “It was a travesty,” David said in an interview with Variety. “What else can you say about it? It was embarrassing. I was embarrassed to be an American.”
Conservatives have been quick to respond to critics of the mixed martial arts event by pointing to the fact that progressive hero President Teddy Roosevelt used to hold boxing matches inside the White House, even participating in a few bouts himself. Strangely, Democrats remain silent as to whether they find Roosevelt’s events equally as atrocious as Trump’s.
According to a report from Breitbart News, David, who is a native of Brooklyn, has previously referred to the president as a “sociopath” and “sick man.” He’s even used Trump and MAGA supporters as comedic fodder for his show Curb Your Enthusiasm, including the movement’s classic red trucker hat and Trump’s mugshot in two different episodes.
In April 2020, David did an interview with the New York Times saying that unlike President Trump, “the worst dictators in history” have at least one “decent quality” about them. “You know, it’s an amazing thing. The man has not one redeeming quality,” David said in a conversation with the Times’ Maureen Dowd about the president.
“You could take some of the worst dictators in history and I’m sure that all of them, you could find one decent quality. Stalin could have had one decent quality, we don’t know!” David added. The comment section of the Breitbart story included a number of jabs at Larry David and his comments on the president, all of which are well deserved.
“So the White House UFC fight left Larry David in despair. What a delightful bonus,” one commenter wrote. “Larry David was probably a proud American when Biden had drag queens molesting children on the White House lawn,” another said. “Bingo! Living proof that Larry David is full of s**t,” a third person commented.

Someone else wisecracked, “Everyone who cares what Larry David thinks about anything raise your hand.” A user replied to that comment, “No hands went up.” Another user wrote, “Maybe David, with all his ideas, should run for office in NYC and see what other Democrats think about him and his heritage.” David is Jewish. One user said, “Anything that annoys a liberal is good for America.”
“To all the un-Americans: if you don’t like it here, and you’re not proud of your country, there are planes leaving every hour out of the USA. Remember, the White House is the people’s house,” an individual responded. “If I had known how he really felt, I would have enjoyed it even more,” someone else went on to write.
