Former United States Congressman Trey Gowdy is proving his most ardent critics, who consider him to be a Republican In Name Only (RINO) correct with comments he made during an interview in which he tore into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol officers who carried out missions to round up illegal aliens in Minneapolis, Minnesota earlier this year.
A video clip of the interview is now making the rounds on social media platform X and conservative users wasted no time in skewering him alive for his comments. Gowdy started off his comments by talking about Kyle Rittenhouse, a young man who, while a teenager during the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots, had to defend himself from violent left-wing activists by using his AR-15 rifle.
“And I think what frustrates people, you remember Kyle Rittenhouse and how he was made a hero on the right? I am sure there are people on the conservative side who are saying, wait a minute, you mean you can’t take a firearm for a protest because you were just celebrating the guy for doing it a couple of years ago,” Gowdy says in the clip.
Gowdy then goes on to discuss the shooting death of liberal activist Alex Pretti during an anti-ICE protest. Pretty physically assaulted an officer and while law enforcement was attempting to subdue him, he went for his gun, contrary to what Gowdy says later in the video. “Alex Pretti’s firearm was lawfully being carried. It’s lawful to carry a gun in Minnesota. He never brandished it, pointed it at the cops, and we certainly shouldn’t be labeling him as a domestic terrorist who’s going to execute cops.”
“There’s no evidence to support that,” Gowdy added. The interview clip was shared by Glockford Files on X, who said in the caption, “Trey Gowdy used to always talk a big game when he was in Congress but when it was time to take action he never did. His deception of the American people and conservatives was rewarded with a gig on Fox News. Gowdy is a RINO on steroids and should never be trusted.”
Other users shared the original poster’s feelings about Gowdy. Wall Street Mav wrote, “Yeah, I thought he was the real deal when he was in Congress. He turned out to be a complete RINO.” Michael Murdock replied, “The last person on the planet who should be AG is Trey Gowdy.” Someone else not only agreed with the original poster, but slammed Gowdy’s hair too. “Could not agree more. Then, there’s the hairdo.”
“Trey Gowdy and his hair can go to hell…talk about a chameleon. Absolutely pathetic,” The Texas Embassy account commented. “Faux News wants fraud Gowdy back in some sort of leading role for the gop. Don’t forget Gowdy was right there beside Paul Ryan trying to take Trump out his first term. The guy is not to be trusted, ever,” one user wrote.

“Gowdy is woefully ignorant of all the laws pertaining to the 2A…especially bringing a weapon to an active operation being conducted by Federal agents, and the fact all identification for that weapon was left at home including his driver’s license. Gowdy’s voice gets higher and higher, as he tries to convince himself he’s correct,” another individual said.
