In April 2026, Federal Reserve nominee Kevin Warsh displayed his expert-level trolling skills during an exchange with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) during his confirmation hearing. The video has resurfaced and is going viral for a second time. President Donald Trump selected Warsh to replace Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, whose term in the position came to an end on May 15, 2026.
During a confirmation hearing before the Senate Banking Committee, Warren pushed Warsh to name one aspect of the president’s agenda that he disagreed with, which then prompted Warsh to fire back with a sarcastic comment mocking the question. “Name one aspect of President Trump’s economic agenda with which you disagree … I’m asking for something you disagree with Donald Trump on,” Warren said.
She then added, “Just one, just one little place where you disagree with Donald Trump.” Warsh wasted no time, replying, “Well, I do have a disagreement actually, Senator, with the president. I think even this morning, he said that he thought I was out of central casting. I think central casting, I’d look older, grayer, maybe show up here with a cigar of sorts.”
Warren was not pleased with the retort, according to a report from The Daily Caller via AOL. “Quite adorable,” she said. “But, you know, we need a Fed chair who is independent. That’s the only way we preserve the independence of the Federal Reserve. If you can’t answer these questions, you don’t have the courage and you don’t have the independence.”
During questioning, Warsh noted the importance of the Federal Reserve’s independence, saying that he would not be Trump’s “human sock puppet” and will not obey orders from the president when it comes to interest rates. Trump, who nominated Powell for the position in 2017, applied pressure to the former chairman hoping to get him to slash interest rates during his second term in the White House.
In January 2026, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia opened up a criminal investigation into Powell concerning the enormous cost of renovating the Federal Reserve headquarters, which went well beyond previous estimates of $2.5 billion. Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) pledged he would block Warsh’s nomination until the Justice Department dismissed the inquiry into Powell.
The comment section on the Daily Caller story was fiery as usual. One individual wrote, “This is nothing but grandstanding and show boating by the socialists. There isn’t a chance in hell that any of them will vote for this man, and it’s purely on the grounds of politics because to them, qualifications are irrelevant.” Another person roasted Warren.

“Pocahontas – The bastion of TRUTH at all times!!! And a fraud her entire adult life. Hell, she probably was a fraud in grade school!!! She probably used REAL arrows in Thanksgiving school play!!!” the person commented. “Warren does what Bernie Sanders does all of the time, that’s gaslighting, anything and everything to make everyone believe that the Republicans are a bunch of crooks. In reality, the Democrats follow the same game plan as the SPLC by blaming others for what they are always doing themselves! ” a third individual said.
