Hundreds Rally in Support of Boston Kids Robbed by Two “Teens”

Hundreds of Boston residents rallied around a group of children who were robbed at gunpoint while operating a lemonade stand. The robbery took place on June 10, 2026. Local police working the case say they have caught one of the alleged perpetrators, who is a teenager. Two armed thugs, wearing masks, robbed a group of kids in Boston for a measly $50, likely giving the children a lifetime of post-traumatic stress to work through in the process.

The children running the stand, 12-year-old David Byrne, along with his little sister, 11-year-old Juliette Byrne, had a gun pulled on them by the two perpetrators. But now the local community is coming together around the Byrne family. Family friends Nicole and Jonathan Raukohl got on the ball and put together the Lower End Lemonade Sale on June 12, 2026 at 157 W. 9th and E Streets.

Half the money raised during the event will be donated to a local gun violence prevention group. According to reports, hundreds of neighbors showed up to show support for the lemonade stand. “He walked over here and said, ‘I might need to take the box,’ and he grabbed it with one hand, and he showed us the gun which was right here,” David Byrne said to reporters.

Boston police officials say one of the miscreants who carried out the crime, identified as a 14-year-old male, was taken into custody on June 12. He will be charged with two counts of armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm. “My sister she put her hands up and I said, ‘you can have it,'” Byrne went on to say, according to the Post Millennial. “But after that I was a little annoyed because we were 12 and 11 and you shouldn’t really do that.”

Footage of the incident shows the two robbers making a run for it with the kids’ money in a chest. One sported all black with a white mask, the other carried a backpack. “It’s safe, it’s fun and they literally do this every day, and this is one thing that happened,” Jonathan Raukohl stated. “So of course it’s awful, right, but we want them to know we’re not going to stop them playing on the street, we’re not going to stop them hanging out with the kids around.”

“It’s tragic. It’s sickening really to tell you the truth,” Dave Byrne said, according to CBS News. “It’s outrageous that in such a good community that we can have something like this happen. I think we need more presence around in order for this to never have happen again.” Nicole Raukohl told reporters the incident made her angry.

“I’m angry, I’m angry that this happened in this community that we love,” Raukohl said. “We’re not just going to let that happen, this is a safe place usually and for this to happen is incredibly sad.” On a Facebook post discussing the story, one user expressed concern for the current generation, saying, “A kid robbing a kid. I pray for this generation because violence and crime is their first response.”

Someone else shared their belief that current punishments for crime are not strong enough deterrents, writing, “THIS is why we should bring back the stocks and pillory and the whipping post.” Another individual commented, “For a child to have to experience an armed robbery over a lemonade stand!!! I wonder if this kid had a history of violence or crimes like this? If so, and the parents did nothing, charge them too!”
