Democrat Mayor Suspiciously Resigns Suddenly after Just Two Months in Office

Newly elected Gettysburg Borough mayor, Chad-Alan Carr, resigned from his post after just two months on the job, according to an announcement from the local municipality. Carr started his term in office as the mayor of Gettysburg in January 2026, a fact confirmed by council president Matthew Moon, who will now fill in, temporarily, as the area’s acting mayor.

A motion to accept Carr’s resignation was scheduled to be held during a council business meeting on March 9, 2026. The council will have 30 days to appoint an interim mayor, according to information revealed by Moon. The person who ultimately ends up in the role will serve in the seat until the next municipal election is held. The reason for the resignation was not initially revealed, though it was, at the time, for a “personal legal matter.”

Later reports revealed that Carr, 48, is accused of engaging in sexual video chats with a teenage boy. Adams County District Attorney Brian Sinnett and Pennsylvania State Police held a news conference about the former mayor’s arrest. It was revealed during the event that Carr has been charged with two felony counts of photograph/film/depict on computer sex act and one misdemeanor count of corruption of minors.

If Carr is convicted, he could face up to three decades in prison. His bail at the time was set for $100,000. A report from WGAL said that an affidavit of probable cause revealed that a Childline report was made on February 24, 2026, stating that a victim informed them that the former mayor had started contacting the victim while he was a minor, “soliciting photos and grooming behaviors.”

“The report also alleged that (the victim) reported Skype conversations and video chats, where he and Carr would engage in sexual acts,” the affidavit goes on to say. “The Childline report also added that Carr was volunteering at (the victim’s) high school.” Investigators later spoke directly with the alleged victim, who informed them that he had known Carr since he was 8-years-old.

However, nothing sexual or untoward between the two started until Carr started getting involved with high school musicals around the time the victim was 14. “(The victim) reported that Carr was very rude to many of the students involved in the high school plays and treated him the same as everyone else the first two years he performed,” the affidavit revealed.

“(The victim) then related that his sophomore and junior years of high school, Carr became very kind and he gave (the victim) a lot of attention. (The victim) then recalled Carr asking him how they could get in touch, not through school email,” it continued. The two started communicating through Skype, which Carr himself called “late night talks,” according to investigators on the case.

The communications happened between 2011 and 2013 when the alleged victim was 16 and 17. The affidavit then said that the victim told investigators the two started sexting back and forth and sharing sexually explicit photos. The victim would also perform sex acts on video at the direction of Carr. After resigning as mayor, Carr stepped down from a position he held with a local community theater.
