Fox News host Jessica Tarlov took blows from every side during a May 6, 2026 episode of the popular program, “The Five,” as her colleagues, Greg Gutfeld and Jesse Watters, demanded to know why liberals seem to have such a big problem with folks supporting President Donald Trump. Gutfeld kicked off the discussion by asking a simple question.
“I’m okay with you hating Trump, why aren’t you okay with me liking him? If you could just look in the mirror and answer that question, liberals, you would feel so much better,” he asked. Fellow co-host Jesse Watters then turned that question directly to Tarlov. “Do you have a theory why liberals care so much about that other people might like Trump?”
“Because he’s like a completely morally bankrupt person that’s imposing all of these…” Tarlov started to say before Gutfeld cut her off, asking, “But why should you care that I like him? Why should you care?” Tarlov responded, “I have accepted that you like him. But I think it’s hard for people when they care about someone to say…”
Gutfeld interjected once again, saying, “Whoa, whoa, whoa. This is the perfect thing. Why do they care? Tell me why.” According to a report from TV Insider, Tarlov began to explain that Democrats care because a person liking President Trump means they will show that support by voting for him, which “leads to bad policies…that make life harder for…”
The answer she tried to give didn’t really answer the question and wasn’t sufficient to explain the unusual amount of hatred and vitriol the left has expressed for those who support the president and his America First agenda. Watters then turned the conversation to focus on Tarlov’s comment about Trump being “morally bankrupt,” saying, “She is misdiagnosing. It has nothing to do with morality.”
“Of course it does,” Tarlov said. Watters then claimed that Democrats “don’t support standards of morality,” going on to explain, “You can do drugs. You can be homeless. You can hit people, rape people, let other murderers into the country. You can do all kinds of things. They don’t judge. They don’t judge!”
Tarlov attempted to respond, however, the other two, now joined by host Paul Mauro, continued to push, saying, “They’re going to let the Son of Sam out of jail.” Watters chimed in again, telling his co-host to “Go talk to Bill Clinton about morality.” Tarlov got a chance to speak and said, “You guys got evangelicals to support a guy who has cheated on every single wife he has had.” Gutfeld fired back, “But who cares if I like him?”

“I’ve said I don’t care,” Tarlov replied. “I have accepted it.” Gutfeld then asked why Tarlov’s fellow Democrats get so angry and violent with those who support the president. “No, but why do your peers… I am doing a Scott Jennings. Get your finger out of my face!” However, before an adequate answer was given, the train metaphorically derailed from that point and the conversation on the topic ended.
