Massachusetts Democratic Gov. Maura Healey’s agenda, essentially welcoming illegal aliens into her state, is putting residents at risk by practically rolling out the red carpet for dangerous criminals and gang members, while at the same time pushing young Americans out of the state and torpedoing its already horrific budget.
Healey has already blown through more than a billion dollars on illegal aliens alone, even as many other states around the country, including blue ones, are starting to reduce lavish spending on those who crossed the border without legal permission. A recent report has revealed that Healey’s “emergency” shelter program, by itself, passed the one billion-dollar mark for the 2025 fiscal year.
The program was originally designed to provide assistance for Massachusetts families with temporary housing when they are down and out. However, rather than sheltering Bay State residents, the vast majority of the spending for the program has gone to provide hundreds of millions of dollars worth of free housing to illegal immigrants.
According to a report from Breitbart News, Healey is also pushing a dangerous criminal agenda by refusing to provide assistance to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in their operations to catch and deport violent illegal aliens, many of whom are convicted felons, releasing them in large numbers onto the streets of Massachusetts.
One example of how this policy has negatively impacted residents living in the state is when ICE caught a felon in Worcester, on their own with no help from state officials, who had previously been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, but was immediately released from custody by state authorities. ICE arrested Dhaval Amratbhai Patel, an illegal alien from India on May 18, 2026.
Patel assaulted a man with a baseball bat during an argument. “This illegal alien from India thought he could go around beating people with a baseball bat. Sanctuary politicians released him from jail after his arrest for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon,” Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said. “Sanctuary politicians must stop choosing to release criminals into our communities and work with DHS to get criminals out of country.”
“By refusing to cooperate with ICE law enforcement, sanctuary politicians are putting the safety of their citizens at risk,” Bis added. In the same month, ICE reported arresting several gang members, drug traffickers, and other violent criminal illegals in the state, again without assistance from state or local authorities.

During one of its first operations conducted in Massachusetts in October 2025, ICE took over 1,400 criminal illegal aliens into custody. And yet, despite the concrete figures presented by the agency, Healey continues to claim that ICE is only arresting average, non-violent illegal immigrants in the state. Along with all of that, Healey’s administration has come under heavy fire for being bogged down in multi million-dollar fraud schemes that she has taken no action to address.
“It is beyond irresponsible that in seven instances of fraud, totaling over $25 million in taxpayer dollars, Governor Maura Healey has been largely silent,” Massachusetts Republican Party Chairwoman Amy Carnevale went on to say in a May 26 press release. What’s more, according to the report, despite federal authorities identifying major Medicaid fraud, Healey described the MassHealth program as having “strong integrity.”
Due to Healey welcoming violent criminal illegal immigrants into the state and doing nothing about the rampant fraud happening under her administration, people are fleeing from Massachusetts at an alarming rate. The Bay State lost well over 33,340 residents to other states between July 2024 and July 2025. A large percentage of those leaving are young people, signaling a bleak future is ahead for the state.
