Notorious RINO Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) is about to be a United States senator no more, as he has lost his primary battle to hold onto his seat in a crushing primary defeat to a MAGA challenger, Julia Letlow, who was backed by President Donald Trump, something that gave her a substantial advantage. In fact, it was so substantial, and he was so hated, that Sen. Cassidy lost the primary race by no small margin, getting defeated by a whopping 20 points!
He has since been throwing temper tantrums about the matter, including in a recent vote that some said put America’s national security at risk, and which was clearly motivated by his being upset about the president helping take him down. President Trump did so because Sen. Cassidy voted with the Democrats to impeach hiim back during his first term.
For reference, Letlow finished with around 44.8% of the vote and Senator Cassidy with around 24.7% of the vote, which put him in third place after John Fleming, who came in second with around 28 percent of the vote. Letlow and Fleming will now head to a run-off election over the summer, but Cassidy is out for good.
This is a major defeat not just because he got blown out of the water by a whopping 20 points, but because it is the first time since 2012 that an incumbent Republican Senator has lost a primary election, showing just how upset American voters are with RINOs like Cassidy who betray them at every turn. Sen. Cassidy was particularly notorious for being against the Make America Healthy Again movement.
In any case, Cassidy is evidently quite upset about the matter, as he voted with other RINOs and the Democrats to limit President Trump’s war powers, a vote clearly driven by spite and anger rather than any sense of good policy, as shown by Sen. Cassidy having previously voted against the war powers-limiting measure.
Eric Daugherty, posting about the matter on X, said, “JUST IN: The US Senate ADVANCES anti-Trump Iran War Powers Resolution, 50-47, after RINO BILL CASSIDY and other Republicans joined Democrats — rebuking the Iran war. REPUBLICAN YEAs: – Cassidy – Rand Paul – Lisa Murkowski – Susan Collins FETTERMAN sided with Trump. The 8TH ATTEMPT. Freaking insane. This ONLY serves to help Iran, and won’t go anywhere in the end! Bill Cassidy flipped to vote with Dems after he lost his seat to MAGA.”
One person who quoted-tweeted Daugherty called out Cassidy for being a piqued and petulant RINO, saying, “What kind of person puts the United States of America in danger because of a child-like temper-tantrum that they didn’t get elected? You do what’s right because it’s right, Senator Cassidy. Period.”

Other commenters on his post said things like, “They don’t have time to pass the SAVE AMERICA Act but they have time to vote on this nonsense 8 times” and “For all the GOP senators whining about Trump endorsing Paxton, grow up. You refused to pass the SAVE AMERICA ACT, while Paxton offered to drop out if you would just do that one thing. And you wouldn’t do it. Your own inaction got your buddy Cornyn canned. THIS IS ALL ON YOU”.

After details of Cassidy’s defeat came out, President Trump reacted triumphantly on his Truth Social platform, saying, “Bill Cassidy, after falsely using his “relationship” with me during his political career, and winning Elections because of it, voted to impeach me on preposterous charges that were fake then, and now, are criminally insane! His disloyalty to the man who got him elected is now a part of legend, and it’s nice to see that his political career is OVER! I’d like to thank the Great People of the State of Louisiana, and this Big Victory will only make me work even harder for your success, and all that comes with it. I LOVE YOU ALL. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! ”
And, praising Letlow, the president said, “Congratulations to Congresswoman Julia Letlow on a fantastic race, beating an Incumbent Senator by Record Setting Numbers. This is the first time in History that a sitting Senator has lost by such large numbers in a Primary, unable to even go forward. Julia Letlow is a fantastic person and, after taking care of some additional business, will make a brilliant Senator for the Great People of Louisiana, a State that I love, helped make prosperous with my Energy Policies and everything else, and won six times in a row, including Primaries. Julia Letlow is a spectacular person, and will never let you down!”
