JD Vance Confirms DOJ Actively Investigating Ilhan Omar for Marriage Fraud

Speaking while filling in for White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt during a press conference delivered on Tuesday, May 19, Vice President JD Vance confirmed that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is actively investigating whether Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) committed immigration fraud, primarily in regard to longstanding allegations that she married her brother.

That commentary on the Ilhan Omar matter came as VP Vance was asked about what he is doing as the head of the Trump Administration’s anti-fraud task force, which is being used to combat fraud, waste, and abuse across federal benefit programs. Particularly, he was asked whether it would focus on Rep. Omar.

Vance, responding, first noted that there have been substantial rumors about Rep. Omar’s alleged relationship with her brother, saying, “You read the things about Ilhan Omar… who she married and whether she didn’t marry this person or that person.”

Continuing, he noted that while all are equal under American law and so the investigation will have to proceed as normal, but that there clearly appears to be something “fishy” going on in regard to Omar. He said, “It certainly seems like something fishy is there, but everybody’s entitled to equal justice under the law.”

Then, emphasizing that the Department of Justice will be looking into the matter and the crime will be prosecuted if it happened, the Vice President explained to the gathered reporters, “We’re going to take a look at it. If we think that there’s a crime, we’re going to prosecute that crime.” He then added, “and that’s something the Department of Justice is looking at right now.”

This wasn’t the first time that JD Vance has spoken on the matter of Ilhan Omar and the rumors of her having committed marriage fraud. “We think Ilhan Omar definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America,” Vance said in March during a podcast interview. Omar, freaking out over the allegations, snapped, “He needs serious help. Since he has no economic policies to tout, he’s resorting to regurgitating bigoted lies instead.”

Similarly, last year, Border Czar Tom Homan revealed that an investigation into Rep. Omar’s citizenship is already ongoing, saying, “You know, I just got advised by fraud investor the other day on that, I asked the question, who reviewed the file? Says, No, there was immigration fraud involved. The statute of limitation became an issue in the last four years when this was first brought up, who was president, who run DOJ. So pulling the records.”

Continuing, he noted that the investigation seems certain to reach the conclusion that she committed fraud, saying, “Now, pulling the files, and we’re looking at but this fraud investigator, who I know, personally, one of the best fraud investigators in HSI Homeland Security Investigations, said, ‘There’s no doubt.’ He reviewed the file. So I’m running that down this week, matter of fact, and we’ll see.”
