A Kentucky toddler is being feted by a small-town police department as “very brave” for reporting the location of a fugitive hiding within a home they were sharing. Other adults at the house were quiet, leading the small child to declare “it is good to be honest.”
Police reports indicate the child was not related to the woman whom he turned in, but was only visiting the residence.
A Facebook post from the Whitley County Sheriff Department shared that authorities were dispatched on February 24th to “an address in Williamsburg attempting to serve a subject with multiple outstanding warrants for her arrest.”
The post continued, noting that the address contained an unknown number of adults who were unwilling to cooperate by revealing the whereabouts of the fugitive woman.
“While investigating the whereabouts of the fugitive, no adult family member was willing to report whether or not the fugitive was inside the house,” the post stated “A very brave and honest toddler stood up, put his hands on his hips, and stated ‘it is good to be honest… we shouldn’t lie, she is inside the room next to the bathroom!’
With the aid of the young child, police located the hiding woman after checking out the area described by the toddler. The post continued, saying that the little one was being commended “for his integrity and service to the community.”
The fugitive was described as a 45-year-old woman who was served with two outstanding warrants for possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. The Facebook post also noted that she was “served with 4 other outstanding district court warrants.”
It is unclear to whom the child belonged, what has since happened to the child, what happened to other adults putting the toddler in such a position of drug use and users.
The only clarification offered by the sheriff’s department also appeared in a subsequent Facebook post. The post stated that “[t]he child involved was visiting family. He was healthy, intelligent, and in no way appeared to be abused. He was just at the wrong place wrong time. If deputies thought he was a potential victim of repercussions, it would have been dealt with.”
Toddlers have been making the news for all the right reasons lately. As if this weren’t a feel-good story enough, the Los Angeles Fox affiliate reported on the cute story of a monkey rescuing a little kiddo’s fallen bottle from their pen.
It is a refreshing break from the horrible news we constantly see. Fox 29 wrote of this adorable story:
An orangutan at the Los Angeles Zoo got creative to receive a baby bottle dropped into a pool of water by a toddler on Feb. 17.
The clever primate fashioned some paper into a hook in order to reach the bottle, which was on the other side of a fence.
CaShawnna Wright shared video of the incident on TikTok with the text “my son dropped his bottle near the orangutans at the zoo, watch what happens next.”
The video shows the crafty ape using its improvised tool to get the bottle.
