Tragedy Strikes Yet Again for Kat Timpf, Who Had to Put Her Rescue Cat Down Just Before Her Dad Died

It has been a rough year for Kat Timpf, the beloved Fox News Channel co-host of Greg Gutfeld. Last February, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer as she was preparing to give birth, a massive personal crisis that she eventually overcame with the help of her family, particularly her sweet father.

Then, on May 12, Timpf had to announce that her father had passed away unexpectedly. He was only 69 years old and had seemed to have been in good health the last time she saw him and last time she spoke to him, she said, and then she got a call shortly afterwards revealing that he had passed away, which was far worse than having cancer.

Describing that personal crisis, she said, “I had to hear over the phone from a doctor I had never met in an emergency room in the same town up north that I’d previously announced to my father that I was pregnant that my dad was dead; I would never see him again, and neither would my son. It would turn out that last year was not the hard one, after all.”

She added, describing the utter awfulness of the situation and how tragic and horrible it is, “I am currently living an unimaginable horror. For many people, this is a tragic story. For me, it’s my life. I do not know how I will recover from it. I only know that I have to for the sake of what is left of my family.”

But it gets worse. In addition to having been diagnosed with cancer right before her son was born and having her father die, she had to put down her beloved pet cat, Cheens, a rescue to which she had become quite attached. Yet worse, putting it down came right before her father’s unexpected passing, adding to the misery of that worst of all moments.

She said, describing having to put her cat down in a post in which she called on people to honor her dad by trying to be nice to each other, “Go be nice to someone. Go have the conversations I wish I could have with my father. Go do something good, go say something kind — because I can absolutely promise you, there is no limit to how cruel the world can be on its own. I’ll see everyone soon. Kat P.S. Less than a week before my dad died, I had to put Cheens down.”

As background, Cheens was a stray cat from Boston that Timpf discovered when he was just a six-week-old stray kitten. Reportedly, Kat discovered Cheens while working as a cashier in Boston, and then nursed him back to health. He then lived with her as she ascended up the ladder of the high life, becoming a Fox News personality living in a posh Manhattan high-rise. But he had gotten old and sickly, and so had to be put down, adding yet more tragedy to this already tragic and awful period in her life.
