Deputies with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department took a 29-year-old man into custody after he allegedly kidnapped and violently assaulted his pregnant girlfriend in a Parkland neighborhood. The arrest was captured on video and featured the suspect crying and begging for his mom. A clip of the incident is going viral on social media.

Randy Smith, 29, is being charged with kidnapping, assault, and violation of a court order following his arrest in Parkland, Washington. Prosecutors working the case stated that Smith was released from prison just six months ago after serving a two-year stint behind bars for a previous attack on the same victim. The arrest came after a witness reported seeing Smith trying to kidnap the woman.

Body camera footage that was obtained by investigators shows deputies locating Smith in a neighborhood in Parkland. “We knew that something was wrong. We knew we had a female that needed help,” Deputy Carly Cappetto of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, went on to say about the arrest. Court documents reveal a pattern of escalating violence perpetrated by the suspect.

According to Fox 13 Seattle, Smith, who was released from prison in November 2025, is the father of the victim’s children. The victim is also currently four months pregnant with Smith’s child. The victim also holds an active domestic violence protection order against Smith. Investigators say that, despite the order, Smith went to the victim’s home a month ago and assaulted her violently with a hammer.

While looking into the hammer attack, documents stated that the individual driving the vehicle that brought Smith to the victim’s residence was driven by his mother. His mom was also present during the kidnapping, according to local authorities. Smith can be seen in the body camera footage desperately crying out for his mother while being placed under arrest.

The prosecutor’s office also stated that they have requested Smith’s bail be set at $100,000. The judge, however, set the bail at $75,000. Investigators revealed that another woman tried to flee the scene during the arrest. Deputies managed to catch up with her, though they did not place her under arrest. As of this writing, she has not been charged with any crimes.

As you probably guessed, the comment section on the clip shared on Facebook was replete with a variety of humorous responses. One individual said, “Can’t call daddy…don’t know who he is!” Someone else posted about the kind of experience Smith is going to have upon his return to prison, writing, “He gonna be a screamer in lock-up.”

A third user humorously noted, “I’m surprised he didn’t try to claim he was pregnant,” a clear jab at the current madness of the transgender movement that claim a man who identifies as a woman can be pregnant, or vice versa. Another commenter wondered how the deputies were able to conduct the arrest without bursting into laughter at the criminal’s pleas for his mother. One final gem said, “If my dad had been a police officer: ‘Don’t you cry for your mother! I’ll give you something to cry about.'”
