Is AOC running for president? According to her, she has far grander designs than simply getting elected to the most powerful office on the planet. Though what those may be was somewhat unclear, indicating that perhaps she really does “just” want to be the President of the United States.
Such was revealed on Friday, May 8, when AOC spoke to far-left Democrat strategist and Obama ally David Axelrod about her presidential aspirations, particularly in the context of the 2028 presidential race. Responding, she attacked Jeff Bezos and then said that she has larger goals than just running for the presidency, whatever that means.
Her bizarre response came when, during the Chicago event, Axelrod claimed that there are “a lot of people” in America who really want her to run for the presidency in 2028 by competing for the Democratic nomination, and asked her for her thoughts on doing so.
Responding, AOC began by angrily denouncing Jeff Bezos in what was almost a non-sequitor, saying, “You know, it’s funny because in this op-ed that Jeff Bezos paid for in The Washington Post, there was this line you had mentioned earlier about well ‘as a potential 2028 contender,’ XYZ, and in the context of that, it was very clear this was a veiled threat, right?”
She didn’t end there. Continuing, she kept attacking Bezos, insisting that his dislike of her was somehow unjust or unfair. She said, “It was the elite saying, ‘If you want this job, you just stepped out of line, and we want you to know where the real power is. It’s in the modern-day barons who own the Post and own the algorithms, and we’re gonna… we’ll make an example out of you.’”
Continuing, she insisted that her ambition is not to be president, but to change America, though she didn’t address whether she could change America through being the president, which appears to be obviously the case. In any case, framing her digression as a higher goal than the Oval Office, AOC said, “What’s funny about that is that they assume that my ambition is positional. They assume that my ambition is a title or a seat. And my ambition is way bigger than that. My ambition is to change this country.”
Still not done, AOC then expounded on the list of radical policies she wants to see passed, though without articulating how she would get them passed without becoming president, saying, “Presidents come and go, Senate, House seats, elected officials, come and go but single payer healthcare is forever, a living wage is forever, worker’s rights are forever, women’s rights, all that.”

Even that wasn’t enough for the Democrat congresswoman, who then pushed yet more of a non-answer, saying that she likes to make decisions by “observing the conditions of this country” and then asking herself, “‘what decision can I make today that is going to get us closer to that future, stronger faster better, than yesterday?'” So, she didn’t address whether she’s running or not, which seems like it means “yes”!
