A 15-year-old from Alabama is now receiving potentially life-saving treatment for stage four bone cancer in Los Angeles, California, thanks to the Trump administration, who heard the young man’s story and decided to intervene. Will Roberts posted a video on his mother’s Facebook page on April 22, 2026, asking President Donald Trump and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to help in any way they could.
“I’ve been fighting osteosarcoma for the last 16 months. It’s a very, very, very deadly and very hard-to-treat bone cancer,” he went on to say in the video. He then asked viewers who might have connections to the White House to help spread the word about his plea.” He also noted that his mother didn’t know he was making the video.
“My chemos are just not working, and I’ve been fighting it for a little bit now, January of 2025. And not much is working,” he added, pointing out that his mom has been considering experimental interventions. “We’ve tried basically everything this, and we’re getting toward the end of the road, and I need help.” Ric Myers, an Alabama real estate developer and oil tycoon, saw the video and passed it on to the president.
According to a report from Breitbart, the video traveled across the administration, landing in front of the eyes of First Lady Melania Trump, Secretary Kennedy, and Dr. Mehmet Oz, who is the administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Oz put the family in contact with the Sarcoma Oncology Center in Santa Monica, which offers “innovative clinical trials and experimental treatments to offer hope for those facing hard-to-treat cancers.”
Will then flew across the country to receive treatment and thanked everyone who offered him their support in helping him make his way to the Golden State. “Man, y’all care so much for me to get this drug and I appreciate it so much,” he went on to say in a video posted to Facebook. The 15-year-old will be undergoing three treatment sessions a week, with each session lasting 30 minutes.
The family has put together a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the expensive treatments. As of this writing, it has raised over $671,000 of its $750,000 goal. The total cost of the treatments is expected to be around $500,000. The family revealed they have already spent $100,000 on travel and other medical-related expenses.
Will’s mom also expressed her gratitude for everyone who has helped the family in their desperate time of need. “We didn’t come to California for comfort. We came for a chance but what we’ve found here… between the people, the doors that have opened, and the peace we’ve felt walking through them that it’s been so much more than that,” she stated.

“And if there’s one thing I know for sure today…We are exactly where we are supposed to be and I have hope,” she added. Comments on the Breitbart story were largely supportive of President Trump getting involved. One individual wrote, “Seems the president does more than Congress and the Senate in terms of supporting, caring for, and helping America and Americans.”
