Speaking during the Wednesday, May 6, Los Angeles mayoral debate, candidate Spencer Pratt went on the attack against Democratic Mayor Karen Bass, confronting her over the many lies that she has told about the Los Angeles wildfires that wreaked havoc in the city in large part because of her awful policies.
Particularly, when discussing the deadly wildfires that raged in January of 2025, Pratt noted that the draining of the reservoirs, such as the Santa Ynez Reservoir, in the lead-up to the disastrous wildfires had caused the damage in East Palisades and Eaton to be much more substantial than it need have been.
That wasn’t all. Pratt also called out Pratt for how she allegedly failed to provide the Los Angeles Fire Department with the necessary funds to fight the wildfires. Mayor Bass of course denied his allegations, but Pratt didn’t back down, holding his ground and inisting that she was in the wrong.
Noting during his epic takedown of the woke mayor how her penny pinching on first responders had left the city unable to respond to them as it should have been able to, Pratt said, “To the mayor Karen Bass, one thousand firefighters were available, but there were no engines for them because there were seventeen million dollars that Chief [Kristin] Crowley had asked the mayor for nine weeks before and Mayor Karen Bass denied it.”
Adding to that, he noted how the drained water reservoirs meant that even what firefighters and fire engines there were were unable to effectively fight the fires, as the reservoirs on which they relied had been drained by the ridiculous character that Bass put in charge of LA Water and Power.
Pratt said, “So they may have been available, but they didn’t have the equipment they needed. Not to mention [Los Angeles Department of Water and Power CEO] Janisse Quiñones, who Mayor Karen Bass put into her position of power at the LAPD, she drained both of these reservoirs that these firefighters needed to put out these fires.”
Bass, of course, tried to rebut the allegations. Beginning, she insisted, “He’s saying several things that are completely inaccurate. First of all, there was one reservoir that was out of commission. He’s correct that a million years ago, it was for wildfires. But over the last 30 or 40 years, it’s been for drinking water. He talked about the winds, that is just completely inaccurate.”

Continuing, she added, further making ridiculous excuses for why she wasn’t to blame for the catastrophe, “If that were accurate, then the planes would have been able to fly. And so if the winds reached close to 100 miles an hour and the planes were unable to fly. So if there were reservoirs, if that reservoir were open, it would not have worked.”
But Pratt was ready, and dropped a truth bomb on her, exposing her lies in a powerful takedown that was quite the mic-drop moment. He said, “She is an incredible liar. Everyone on their phones, Google it. 40 weather stations in the Pacific Palisades, it never went above 40 miles per hour.”
