Things got so drowsiness-inducing that they became hilarious when former Vice President and failed 2024 presidential candidate Kamala Harris gave a speech at the Public Counsel’s William O. Douglas Award Dinner in Beverly Hills, California, as the saxophonist sitting right next to Kamala got so sleepy from listening to her talk that he fell asleep on stage as she gave her speech.
As background, Public Counsel is an NGO that helps match clients in need of pro-bono services with lawyers willing to provide those services. The dinner at which Kamala spoke is, as Public Counsel provides on its website, its “annual flagship fundraiser, bringing in millions to support its pro bono legal services, community-building and advocacy efforts, and groundbreaking civil rights litigation in Los Angeles and across the nation.”
It was also apparently a real snoozefest this year, as Kamala Harris was the speaker. She decided to spend her time delivering one of her typical word salad rants about how much she can’t stand President Trump and how much she detests his policies. This ridiculous speech came hot on the heels of her cringe-inducing, absurd attempt to mimic him.
In the footage of the event that emerged, which was taken by an audience member and obtained by TMZ, the drowsy saxophonist can be seen nodding off as Kamala Harris angrily warns that “people would take to the streets if they tried to cancel elections,” a nonsensical and fantastical talking point rooted much more in delusion than in fact.
It got better. Kamala kept up the tiresome and absurd rant, insisting that Republicans are trying to stop people from voting. “They have had an agenda that has been in place for decades to get to this very moment and beyond, which is to make it so difficult for the people to vote that they won’t,” Harris raged. Meanwhile, the saxophonist snored.
Still not done with her rant, the former VP then insisted that without Republicans trying to stop people from voting, America would overwhelm the Trump administration with negative votes, saying, “Because they know the people are not stupid and see the corrupt, incompetent, callous administration that is in the White House right now, and they are so damn scared of losing the midterms.”
Then, as she finally wrapped up her speech, the saxophonist could be seen rousing himself back into a state of being awake enough to play her off the stage. But people had already noticed he was asleep, and so the story made its way across the internet, with conservatives particularly delighting in using it to laugh at Harris.

Kamala Harris gave a speech and the saxaphonist on stage with her fell asleep.
If that’s not the end of her political career, then I don’t know what is.

During the same event, Harris also spoke with actress Uzo Aduba, and during that portion of the event declared that the Democrats “need to be ruthless” in countering the Republicans, insisting that the Democrats have so far “dropped the ball in a variety of ways” and so the American people need to “challenge the status quo and fight the system on behalf of the people.”
