WATCH: Trump Describes How Dinner Attack Was “Traumatic” for First Lady Melania Trump

Speaking to the media after the horrible attack incident at the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday, April 25, President Trump said that it was a “traumatic experience” for First Lady Melania Trump. This is the third such attack he has faced, after the attempted assassinations both in Butler, Pennsylvania, and along the Mar-a-Lago golf course, but her first.

That came during the speech that he delivered from the White House Briefing Room, during which he said, in part, “This was an event dedicated to the freedom of speech that was supposed to bring together members of both parties with members of the press and in a certain way it did.”

Continuing, he explained that the response from the room had been a heartening one, saying, “The room was totally unified. It was a very beautiful thing to see.” He added that he found the media’s coverage of the whole incident “very responsible.” He said, “I also want to thank the press, the media. You’ve been very responsible in your coverage, I will say.”

He also commented on how the incident had effected the First Lady. President Trump said, “I want to thank the First Lady. That was a rather traumatic experience for her. There was a lot of action taking place up there very quickly, but again the response time was really incredible.”

President Trump also commented on the matter on Truth Social. He said, “Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we “LET THE SHOW GO ON” but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again.”

In another post he said, using it to describe why a White House Ballroom is needed, “What happened last night is exactly the reason that our great Military, Secret Service, Law Enforcement and, for different reasons, every President for the last 150 years, have been DEMANDING that a large, safe, and secure Ballroom be built ON THE GROUNDS OF THE WHITE HOUSE.”

He continued, “This event would never have happened with the Militarily Top Secret Ballroom currently under construction at the White House. It cannot be built fast enough! While beautiful, it has every highest level security feature there is plus, there are no rooms sitting on top for unsecured people to pour in, and is inside the gates of the most secure building in the World, The White House.”

He concluded, “The ridiculous Ballroom lawsuit, brought by a woman walking her dog, who has absolutely No Standing to bring such a suit, must be dropped, immediately. Nothing should be allowed to interfere with with its construction, which is on budget and substantially ahead of schedule!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
