Things got crazy in Congress as conservative reporter Alison Steinberg found Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and pressed her on her alleged corruption as the congresswoman waited for an elevator, sparking a panic-fuelled, raging meltdown from the congresswoman about the situation that left commenters online chuckling.
As background, Rep. Ilhan Omar has been facing much criticism and scrutiny as of late over her Congressional financial disclosures and what they showed about investments held by her and her husband. Particularly, they showed the value of those investments rocketing upwards all of a sudden, seemingly making the congresswoman a multi-millionaire many times over.
But then, after she started to face a great deal of public scrutiny about how her investments had risen in value so much, so quickly, the congresswoman did an about-face and resubmitted amended forms, insisting as she did so that there had been a vague mistake of some sort that led to the immense amount of wealth initially shown by the forms. That about-face involved a revision of her wealth down from a $6-30 million estimate to a range between about $18,000 and $95,000.
That too has drawn much scrutiny, with members of Congress like Rep. Tom Emmer and Rep. James Comer questioning what mistake could possibly have been made that led to her estimate of her own net worth being off by so many millions of dollars.
So, the scrutiny and furor has not died down with the resubmitted forms, but rather increased. Such is what led to Steinberg pressing Omar. She began by asking her, “The last time I spoke to you, you said that I was stupid for asking about your financial disclosure, but there’s some discrepancies on there. Would you like to explain them? How did you make such a big mistake on them?”
Omar freaked out in response, angrily and snidely saying, “I think you’re stupid for asking me anything!” After a short back and forth about that, Steinberg asked, “What about the American people who are wondering how you made such a big mistake?”
Cutting her off, Omar snapped, “I have explained to the American people.” She gave no more details, leading Steinberg to, naturally, ask, “What’s the explanation?” Omar refused to give details, snapping, “I have given them the explanation.” Steinberg then asked, “Do you wanna tell our viewers, because–” That’s when Rep. Omar cut her off yet again, and shouted “I don’t have to tell you jack sh*t, how about that?!” The questioning ended there.

Predictably, commenters online found Ilhan Omar’s behavior very suspicious. Conservative X commentator Nick Sortor wrote, “HOLY CRAP! Ilhan Omar LOST IT on a @RealLindellTV
eporter for asking about her MASSIVE net worth change”. He added, Ilhan is LASHING OUT because she KNOWS she’s guilty! HSI AND IRS MUST GET INVOLVED!”
Similarly, Eric Daugherty posted, “ILHAN OMAR JUST PANICKED AND RAGED The Somali pirate got confronted for likely FRAUD and lashed out”. He added, “She knows. She MUST BE EXPELLED.” Still another poster wrote, “Ilhan Omar is panicking 😭 She sounds guilty AF”.
