Former Democratic Gettysburg Mayor Chad-Alan Carr was charged with additional sex offenses against children as three more victims came forward, according to newly released court documents. On April 15, 2026, Carr, 48, was charged with three felonies, including sexual assault, along with two misdemeanors. He was out on $100,000 bail for a different set of charges when he was taken into custody in Anderson County, Texas.
A report revealed that an affidavit of probable cause was filed by Pennsylvania State Police on April 15 and shared the following details. “Six days after Mr. Carr’s initial arrest, a woman called the state police and said Mr. Carr had sexually assaulted her son about 10 years ago. During a March 23 police interview, the woman’s son said he met Mr. Carr on Grindr, a dating app, in October 2015 when he was 16.”
The affidavit then stated that the first time the two met, nothing sexual took place. However, during the second meeting, Mr. Carr offered the teenager some alcohol at his residence in Gettysburg before the two went upstairs to his bedroom. The victim claimed that, at first, the physical contact was consensual, but he then told Carr, “No, no, no.”
According to the Post-Gazette, court documents say that Carr assaulted the teen anyway. After the incident, the teen left the disgraced mayor’s home and blocked his phone number. He then informed his mother about what transpired with Carr, but did not reveal his name until the Democratic mayor was first arrested. On April 1, another man spoke with police and stated that he first met Carr at the age of 18 while attending a play his cousin was starring in.
Before meeting him, the man revealed that he had “heard a lot of things about Carr and how he was not a nice person.” In March 2010, the man said Carr picked him up from a choral concert and drove him to an apartment located on Stratton Street in the city of Gettysburg. The two chatted about the man’s interest in getting involved in theater.
The affidavit then says that the man starred in several roles in Gettysburg Community Theater productions, which is the theater Carr founded and oversaw until his arrest in March. The man lived with Carr for a short time while rehearsing for the roles, but their interactions were “strictly professional.” The man revealed that at that time he was 23 and did not have a job, so he would clean or work for Carr to pay rent.
He then recounted a night during the summer of 2015 when the man said he was asleep in his bedroom at Carr’s residence when he woke up to find Carr was in the room. The man was then assaulted by Carr, despite telling the theater owner “no” several times. Carr told the victim that it was okay and that he didn’t need to be scared of him. He then informed police that Carr held him down for 5-10 minutes during the encounter.

Local law enforcement also stated that they received a Childline report from a third man who claimed Carr had inappropriate contact with him when he was a teen performing at Eichelberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover, York County. In March, state police accused Carr of exchanging sexual messages and photos with a 16-to-17-year-old boy and giving him instructions for sex acts to perform during late night Skype sessions.
