Joy Behar, co-host of ABC’s “The View,” went on a bizarre rant claiming that Jesus Christ never referred to Himself as the Messiah, going on to dig her hole even further by absurdly stating that if He did claim to be the Messiah He would be “narcissistic.” She was then informed, to her face, that she was incorrect and that Jesus did, in fact, claim to be the Messiah, but she still insisted it would be “narcissistic” for Him to say such.
The whole conversation was inspired by a now-deleted Truth Social post where many, both conservatives and Democrats, argued that President Donald Trump was portrayed as Jesus in an AI-generated photo. Behar, trying to prove how not like Jesus the president is, falsely claimed Jesus never said he was the Messiah, or the Savior of the world.
“Yeah, but Jesus himself did not run around saying, ‘I’m the Messiah. I’m the Messiah,” Behar ignorantly stated during the segment. Co-host Farah Griffin jumped in immediately and corrected her, saying, “Uh, Jesus did kind of say, ‘I am the Messiah.'” Sara Haines joined in, saying, “That’s exactly what Jesus said, ‘I am the Messiah.'”
The crowd then erupted into laughter, but none of that deterred Behar from continuing to deny the truth. “No, he did not. Jesus was more modest than that. Listen, I knew Jesus,” Behar went on to say. A report from Newsbusters poked further holes in Behar’s statement by referencing Jesus’ meeting with the woman at the well.
In John 4:25, the woman said, “I know that Messiah (called Christ) is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Jesus answered the woman, “I, the one speaking to you — I am he.” This is a clear example of Jesus claiming to be the long-awaited Messiah the Jews had been waiting for. In Mark 14, Jesus was asked by the high priest if he was the Messiah, to which Jesus replied, “I am.”
“Jesus was not narcissistic like this guy,” Behar continued. Haines again intervened, saying, “But when you are the Messiah, it’s not narcissism to say it!” Behar snapped back, “Yes, it is!” Haines kept the conversation going by challenging Behar. “When you are the Messiah?” she asked Behar. “Yes,” she replied. In 2018, Behar also claimed that anyone claiming to hear Jesus speak to them in prayer was suffering from “mental illness.”
The Media Research Center pushed back on her statement, eventually causing her to cave and issue an apology. Behar also claimed during the the same episode of “The View” that the now-deleted Trump post was a distraction from First Lady Melania Trump, who was distracting folks from the Iran war, which was started to distract people from the Epstein files.

“He’s a master of distraction. And Melania had a faux pas last week when she came out and started talking about the Epstein files. It’s like, you know, first he has to cover the Epstein files by having a war with Iran, then the Epstein files have to cover the Iran war, and now this has to cover all of that,” Behar went on to say during the segment.
