Conservative commentator and late-night talk show host Greg Gutfeld schooled New York City voters who cast their ballots in the last mayoral election for Zohran Mamdani for buying into his socialist rhetoric of “free stuff” for everyone. Gutfeld scorched Democrats in the Big Apple during a segment of the popular Fox News program “The Five.”
Gutfeld brought school into session by zinging voters for thinking that Mamdani would be able to follow through on his promise of free transportation for New York residents. “This has got to be confusing for Zohran backers. They were told they get free buses,” the late-night host said. “How hard is that? People get on them. You don’t have to pay anymore. What’s the problem?”
He then lands a punch square to the chin by calling voters stupid for not understanding that there’s nothing, even in a socialist society, that is truly free. “But then he has to explain to them, because they’re stupid, that, you know, it’s not really free. Other people pay for it, like your neighbors, your boss, your landlord. Pretty soon, they’re going to leave, and then you’re really screwed.”
Places like New York and California have been experiencing a mass exodus as more publicly funded programs are created and taxes are raised to cover the cost of them. This means less tax revenue coming in to fund things like “free” buses. Soon, there won’t be enough other people paying into the system to afford the programs, businesses close up shop due to a loss of revenue, and jobs disappear.
“You’ll not only be walking to work, you won’t be walking to work because you won’t have a job,” Gutfeld explained. “I think Zohran is harmful to civil society because he looks at whites and Asians, who already pay a vast, disproportionate sum of taxes relative to the percentage of the population, which all goes to these corrupted social programs.”
“And he’s saying they aren’t paying their fair share. They need to pay more. Again. If you thought woke is dead? If you thought DEI is dead, it just changed its name and it transitioned it’s on steroids. You’re paying for its new t*ts. Zohran. Zohran wants to raise taxes on whites to fund a racial equity plan,” Gutfeld added. “This is to increase the burden on richer and whiter neighborhoods to address inequities elsewhere.”
Gutfeld continues going scorched earth on Democratic voters, asking, “Again, how is that fair? You’re taxing the people already paying far more than their fair share. Why is he doing this? And this is what we have to focus on. We have to stop the fallacy of historical harms, the idea that like affordability is linked to systemic racial inequality of the past.”

Gutfeld wrapped things up by referring to socialist policies as robbing people without a weapon. “Sorry, I lived in California. I moved to New York 20 years ago. Not my problem, not my fault. I pay more money in taxes than you. You don’t even want to know. This idea, this rate, this inequity plan, is basically mugging the citizen without a knife.”
