Congressman Leading Charge to Get the DOJ to Deport and Denaturalize Zohran Mamdani Gets Some Good News

Back in 2025, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), one of the best of the MAGA congressmen, began a push to have the Department of Justice investigate Zohran Mamdani for allegedly lying on his immigration forms and illegally concealing material facts during the naturalization process. If true, that would mean he could be denaturalized and deported.

While the DOJ has largely refrained from commenting on that matter directly, it did just promulgate a momentous press release showing that just that issue, lies told during the naturalization process that can and should result in denaturalization and deportation, is one it is now taking very seriously and trying to crack down on in a massive way.

The momentous news that the DOJ is now looking into the citizenship, denaturalization, and deportation issue with renewed vigor came in an awesome press statement titled, “Trump Administration Ramps Up Efforts to Denaturalize Those Who Gained U.S. Citizenship by Concealing Crimes and Committing Fraud.”

Explaining the move, the DOJ noted that it has already succeeded in two cases and is working on a third, one which could set a major precedent moving forward for how these are handled. It said, “The Department of Justice announced today that it has secured the denaturalization of two individuals who obtained U.S. citizenship through fraud and sued to revoke the citizenship of a third person that secured naturalization by marriage fraud.”

As marriage fraud is what Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is accused of, that last case could be of massive importance in the months ahead, and the connection between the release and her situation drew most of the headlines. However, the discussion of cracking down on fraud in the naturalization process, particularly lies told during it, is similarly connected to Rep. Ogles’s push to have NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani face such scrutiny.

Particularly, the congressman accused Mayor Mamdani of serious fraud in the naturalization process in a letter to AG Bondi, the claims of which quite align with the new DOJ statement of strategy and purpose regarding such matters and cracking down on that sort of fraud.

He began the letter by saying, in a short and punchy October letter that restated claims he had originally made over the summer, saying, “I write to follow up on my June 26, 2025, letter requesting that the Department of Justice investigate whether Mr. Zohran Kwame Mamdani, currently a candidate for Mayor of New York City, should be subject to denaturalization proceedings under 8 U.S.C. § 1451(a) for possible willful misrepresentation or concealment of material facts during his naturalization process.”

Continuing, the congressman argued, “Since that initial inquiry, additional public reporting has raised further questions about Mr. Mamdani’s past statements and associations, including his refusal to disavow violent anti-American rhetoric and continued public praise for individuals convicted of providing material support to Hamas. These developments, documented in the New York Post and other outlets, suggest a broader pattern of conduct inconsistent with the oath of allegiance required of new citizens. The American people expect equal enforcement of our immigration laws, particularly when potential ties to designated terrorist organizations are involved.”

He further explained, noting the exact (alleged) violation of American law, “No individual, regardless of political office or public profile, should be shielded from accountability if credible evidence indicates deception or concealment during the citizenship process. I again urge the Department to open a formal investigation into whether Mr. Mamdani’s public expressions of support for the Holy Land Foundation’s convicted leadership, and his ongoing rhetoric sympathetic to anti-Israel and anti-U.S. movements, were disclosed as required during his naturalization. Failure to disclose such affiliations would constitute a material misrepresentation under federal law.”

He then called on the DOJ to do what it now looks like it is doing, saying, “The United States must uphold the integrity of its citizenship process and ensure that those who seek to represent the public meet the highest standards of loyalty to this Nation. I respectfully request that DOJ provide an update on whether an inquiry has been initiated, the scope of that inquiry, and the steps being taken to determine whether denaturalization proceedings are warranted.”
