President Donald Trump made a whole room full of people laugh out loud with his response to what he called a “ridiculous” question during a Cabinet meeting when a reporter asked him if he had any plans to storm into Iran to retrieve their highly-enriched uranium that is now buried under areas that have been bombed by U.S. military forces.
Earlier in March, a report from the New York Times quoted an anonymous source who stated that Iran or “potentially another group” could still get to the uranium “through a very narrow access point,” despite the material being “entombed under the country’s nuclear site at Isfahan.” The report said, “It is unclear how quickly Iran could move the uranium, which is in gas form and stored in canisters.”
During the Cabinet meeting, the reporter asked President Trump, “Mr. President, are you going to go in for the uranium? I mean, how do you secure Iran and –” Trump, shaking his head at the question, replied, “Let’s assume I was or wasn’t. Why would I ever answer that question? What kind of a question? ‘Oh, we’re going in tomorrow at 3:00.'”
According to Yahoo News, members of Trump’s Cabinet immediately burst into laughter at the president’s joke. The administration has made it clear since the beginning of Operation Epic Fury that it would not be revealing details of its military plans in Iran, which would tip off the enemy and allow them time to prepare counterstrikes.
“How can you possibly ask a question like that and expect an answer? I don’t know. But I don’t know, I think you are a friendly person, too. It’s just such a ridiculous question,” the president added. Later, during a questions-and-answers portion of the meeting, Trump reiterated, “I can’t talk about specifics” concerning the highly-enriched uranium.
“It’s like the question that this young lady has — sorry if I embarrass you, because I don’t want to embarrass you — but I think you are a friendly reporter, so I’m sorry,” Trump explained. “But I can’t say what we’re going to do. If I did, I wouldn’t be sitting here for long. What is it called, the 25th Amendment? They would institute the 25th Amendment. Which they didn’t do with Biden, which is shocking.”
Completely ignoring the explanation from President Trump on why he cannot share specifics regarding the uranium, another reporter said, “Steve Witkoff said they’ve got enough uranium to make a bomb. That’s a scary thing.” The president once again replied, “I can’t talk to you about that. You are asking me a question. You are essentially saying, ‘will I go and do something?’ I can’t talk to you about that.”

During the meeting, President Trump clarified the situation concerning negotiations with the Middle Eastern nation, going on to say, “They said yesterday that we weren’t negotiating with them, and now they admit that we were negotiating with them, so they want to make a deal. The reason they want to make a deal is they have just been beat to s**t.”
