WATCH: CNN Anchor Quits Network Live On Air, Announces That She’s Leaving

Speaking during the Monday, March 23 broadcast of her CNN program, CNN anchor Rahel Solomon announced that she is done with CNN and is now heading for the exit. In fact, she said, she will be out of the network by the week’s end, and is moving on with her life toward a new chapter, though she didn’t specify what that may be.

For reference, Rahel Solomon is a business correspondent who mans the desk during CNN’s 5 am, one-hour-long “Early Start” program. She has worked at the network for about four years, during which she has escaped the sort of political notoriety that many of her CNN colleagues have faced. The business journalist, described by many in the media as “promising,” is 37 years old.

Rahel joined CNN in April of 2022, and immediately began working as a business correspondent. Some of her more famous, or at least momentous, moments and stories covered include the 2023 banking crisis that involved the meltdown of Silicon Valley Bank, and the Credit Suisse emergency takeover. She covered those complex financial topics on shows such as CNN Newsroom and CNN International.

Evidently, she did well enough at that trail of appearances covering financial meltdowns to be promoted to a full show, and in March of 2025 was made the anchor of Early Start, a then-new early-morning business program that kicked off CNN’s weekday schedule.

As she needed to be on air before dawn, the role was widely considered both prestigious and personally taxing. Further, Rahel had gotten married in 2024, and had a child in 2025. In fact, she only returned to her role on the Early Start program in December of 2025, when her maternity leave ended.

Now, about a year after starting in the role, Rahel is leaving it imminently. She announced at the tail-end of her broadcast that she is quitting, saying, during the sign-off segment, “I have decided that this will be my last week at CNN. More to come on what’s next for me, but I’m really excited about this next chapter.”

She then thanked her viewers and her team, and said, “I am so proud to have worked here alongside you.” She continued, “To the larger team here at CNN, I’m gonna be cheering you on – I look forward to watching.” She added, “It has been such an honor, truly, to serve as a business correspondent.” She also said, noting that her career is changing somewhat rather than ending as she leaves CNN for an unspecified different job, “So this is truly not goodbye, but see you soon.”

CNN, for its part, said it would support her in her decision to leave. Saying as much in a statement to the press, a spokesperson for the network said, “We are grateful to Rahel for all her contributions to CNN over the past four years and are supportive of her decision. We wish her all the best in her next chapter.”
