Despite Uber existing and being quite cheap, anti-social scumbags continue to drink and drive and put all those on the road around them at risk while they do so. In Texas, that anti-social behavior caused a fatal accident when a man named Dylan Molina crashed his Jeep into a sedan while his Blood Alcohol Level was at twice the legal limit. In the crash, Molina killed an off-duty cop.
The accident happened 2021 and Molina was just sentenced for it. One thing that came out during the sentencing was a video of what happened immediately after the accident. After plowing his rental Jeep into the sedan, Molina ran away from the scene of the accident.
But he didn’t get far, the recently released video shows, because a good Samaritan was there to chase him down, tackle him to the ground, and cuss him out while detaining him and waiting for authorities to arrive. Here’s how Fox 4 News described what happened:
Moments after the crash, Molina — 26 years old at the time — ran away from the scene. He did not make it far. Molina face-planted.
And while some neighbors desperately tried to save the family inside the sedan, one neighbor held Molina down and cussed him out.
“You stay right there, mother f**ker! You see what you did?!” the good Samaritan said.
Watch the incident here:
The man killed by Molina in the DUI-induced accident was off-duty Euless Police Detective Alex Cervantes. He was driving the sedan. Also in the sedan were his wife and two young boys. All three were injured but survived.
Molina was offered a plea deal in January, which he took. Under the deal, he pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter and was sentenced to 15 years in prison for killing Detective Cervantes.
Also in legal trouble for the incident is bartender Cala Richardson, who is facing a misdemeanor charge. That’s because he allegedly overserved Molina shortly before the crash, serving him enough vodka that his BAC was twice the legal limit at the time of the accident.
Fox 4 News, reporting on what Lake Worth Police Chief J.T. Manoushagian had to say about Molina being overserved at the bar and how it should have been obvious that he wasn’t able to safely operate a vehicle, reported:
“You see Dylan Molina walking from behind the bar area from the inside out to the outer bar area, and you see the bartender waving him around, telling him you can’t be back there. You need to move,’” he explained. “At this point, he stumbles backwards and grabs the bar to try to maintain his balance.”
Richardson served Molina eight double vodka Red Bull cocktails that Saturday morning, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
“Eight doubles, 16 single shots, is more than anybody should have in a three-hour period. Maybe even at all,” Manoushagian said. “Clearly, not in a good place to be operating a vehicle. Clearly intoxicated. he’s holding another one of those double vodka and Red Bull drinks there, and then he simply walks away.”
