Amid a partial Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown, over a disputed $5 billion ICE funding cut, President Donald Trump escalated demands on Truth Social that no deal be made with Democrats until they support passage of the SAVE America Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act).
For context, the bill, which passed the House earlier and has been under Senate debate since mid-March, requires proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration and a photo ID at the polls to combat noncitizen voter fraud.
In his comments, Trump called it “far more important than anything else” in the Senate. He urged Senate Majority Leader John Thune to identify Republican opponents as “Voting against AMERICA” to face future political consequences.
Beginning his thunderous demands on Truth Social, the president declared, “I don’t think we should make any deal with the Crazy, Country Destroying, Radical Left Democrats unless, and until, they Vote with Republicans to pass ‘THE SAVE AMERICA ACT.'”
Building on this point, he added, “It is far more important than anything else we are doing in the Senate, and that includes giving these same terrible people, the Dems (who are to blame for this mess!), a Five Billion Dollar cut in ICE funding, a deal which, even when disguised as something else, is unacceptable to me and the American people – UNLESS it includes their approval of Voter I.D., (with picture!), Citizenship to Vote, No Mail-In Voting (with exceptions), All Paper Ballots, No Men In Women’s Sports, and No Transgender MUTILIZATION of our precious children.”
Concluding his post, President Trump stated, “Put it all together, and also, let Leader Thune clearly identify those few ‘Republicans’ that are Voting against AMERICA. They will never be elected again! In other words, lump everything together as one, and VOTE!!! Kill the Filibuster, and stay in D.C. for Easter, if necessary. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DJT”
In an earlier post on the same subject, he noted, “THE SAVE AMERICA ACT MUST BE PASSED BY THE SENATE. THERE IS NOTHING THAT IS MORE IMPORTANT FOR THE U.S.A. Voter I.D., Proof of Citizenship, etc. Get it done and watch all of the good things that will happen!!! President.”

Emphasing the importance of this bill in another Truth Social message, the president stated, “The Save America Act is one of the most IMPORTANT & CONSEQUENTIAL pieces of legislation in the history of Congress, and America itself.”
“NO MORE RIGGED ELECTIONS! Voter I.D., Proof of Citizenship, No Rigged Mail-In Voting (We are the only Country in the World that allows this!), No Men in Women’s Sports, No Transgender MUTILIZATION of our Children. 90% to 99% ISSUES ALL! Only sick, demented, or deranged people in the House or Senate could vote against THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,” he added.
Trump declared, “If they do, each one of these points, separately, will be used against the user in his/her political campaign for office – A guaranteed loss! Get your Senators, REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT, to VOTE “YES” ON “THE SAVE AMERICA ACT.” I WILL NEVER (EVER!) ENDORSE ANYONE WHO VOTES AGAINST “SAVE AMERICA!!!” Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” concluding his message.
